If it's how it works, why don't they simply say it's coming from her publicist? I mean, even for the media, it sounds more reliable to say that than "someone close to Taylor". I always read that as "a friend of Taylor confirmed it" idk why :skull:

It's worded that way because it gets clicks and preserves the sense of mystery and gossip that tabloid readers find addicting. Just another layer of playing the media game.

Why do people engage with artists they don't like . I couldn't imagine camping in a Bieber thread and keeping up with his every move... I just ignore him We must pray for the victims of Taylor Swift

Yeah, most likely they didn't want it to come out yesterday but Entertainment Tonight got the news someway. Once it was out People Magazine & Tree (it's the outlet she always uses to put out news) decided to confirm it and spread the "friendly split" narrative, before more rumours fly around.

Soemthing tells me someone from ET heard it from somebody at People and ran it as quickly as possible

Because saying "sources say" gives the protagonist a chance to deny it or a chance to say they never talked about it publicly. It's very useful for politics and I guess the gossip magazines stick to the same formula.

Seeing the sets, I think she might be shooting two different videos at the same time. One for SN TV and another for a completely different song off Midnights or something else

There's also a very real possibility those props are just distractions to throw us off of the scent :gaycat6:

If that happens that "somebody at People" would be instantly fired. The amount of web traffic ET must have had yesterday in those 40 minutes when they were the only magazine reporting...

What’s crazy is that she’s been suffering inside and faking a smile just to make people happy for the past month and managed to hold it together…

Like a majority of the songs are about them and she’s carrying on like a pro, meanwhile I haven’t been able to listen to anything today since so much is connected to them and now these songs feel empty and have the opposite intended effect when listening to them. (Yes it sounds stupid but…)

same, i only listened to speak now and 1989, I've kinda been avoiding rep-midnights :gaycat7:

i never associated her songs with nobody but myself and my experiences i’m sorry :rip: like this breakup really isn’t gonna affect my listening experience. i never even imagined some people were connecting those songs to joe too…cause like, why would you?

I get it but some songs have very specific lines for Joe. Cornelia Street, New Years Day, Call It what You Want, Invisible Strings, Lover, Dress, Daylight and some of her ballads.

But bop songs like King of My heart, I think he knows, ready for it, paris, paper rings, etc. will be easy to listen to because of their vibe.

yeah i could understand that. but her whole discography is autobiographical. there’s really specific lines about someone in pretty much all of her albums. this just might feel different cause she’s been with him for 6 years now.

but those songs you mentioned also apply to my own life to a certain extent too. except for the obvious lines about her relationship with joe, i’ve always related all of her songs to myself and my relationships with people.

That's what I also find the most heartbreaking. Imagine keeping up the facade like she has despite singing songs she wrote about her love for him while they are broken up. The champagne problems performance makes so much sense now.

I guess it's now up to the Swifties to change the meaning of the songs for her like they did for All Too Well.

When you look closer to the setlist except 3 or 5 songs most of these songs are either sad break up songs or old hits that have nothing to do with him.

Even the surprise songs for her last 3 shows are kind of very personal and deep.

I listend to Midnights this morning and thought about the break up and if you try to see it from this point the album is really sad. Like there are so many lines that can be seen as a cry for help or hidden messages from her.

That’s her gift as a songwriter. She would write very specific events in her life but somehow still very easy to relate. Even Illicit Affairs and Ivy makes me believe I’m a cheater.

However, I also get why some part of her huge fanbase is invested in her personal life because that’s what connects her to her fans. She makes them feel they’re part of her family.

Celebrity gossip and drama can be annoying and tiring. I hope we won't be seeing any dramatic developments out of this break up. We really don't need this after her we love her again moment.

She no longer involves herself in celebrity dramas but I'm still worried. We have seen how the gp started turning on her (or at least get sick of hearing gossips about her) after the drama with the Calvin breakup. The rest is history.

I hope it will die down soon.

Damn, I rather have it at #12. #11 is frustrating

But also, does this mean he broke willow's record?

They would have to filter a lot of sales for that to happen. Charts are very weak now, Willow was on Christmas week.

Nausea? Boredom? Second hand embarrassment because of that outro?spacer.png

If this is true I don't understand why she chooses that song and what are the Speak Now props doing in the MV set (maybe even more Easter eggs). At least if she is still in the Midnights era we can still hope for the 3AM physicals.
