something i have to get off my chest is that i don't think her lyrics are necessarily getting worse. i just think she's at a stage in her life where not every song has to be a folklore or evermore track and there's nothing wrong with that. idk if my perspective is a little different because i'm a woman, but i completely get where she's coming from with songs like "cleveland!" she's in a relationship with somebody she seems to adore and who seems to adore her, and she's now married and entering a whole new chapter in her life. of course that's going to be reflected in some of her newer songs. she probably just wants to write something fun sometimes.

i also think people forget that she's always had these carefree songs in her discography. like "shake it off" and "stay stay stay." i personally love both of those songs because they make me happy and they're fun and easy to sing along to. i'm not putting them on because i want to sit there and analyze the lyrics. sometimes i just want to have fun listening to a song lol.

i could understand the critiques more if her debut album had been folklore, but it wasn't. red is a perfect example of how varied her songwriting has always been. we have "22" and "we are never ever getting back together" on the same album as "all too well" and "sad beautiful tragic." and i can almost guarantee that if a song like "22" had been on the life of a showgirl then it would be getting ripped apart on social media just for the sake of it, even though it's a fan favorite.

i don't care if people don't like her or her music, but it's so stupid that we get called a cult or told that we're forcing ourselves to like her music lmao. there are plenty of modern artists i can't stand and i genuinely don't understand how people enjoy their music, but i don't need to understand. we all have different opinions. i'd never go out of my way to tell their fans that they're pretending to like their music. it's weird af.

i'm definitely going to be more cautious about who i respond to in the future because i'm sure most of the haters on this site are either trolls or just looking for an argument. i really don't have the energy for that when i just want to enjoy her music and talk to people who also enjoy it.
