Finally appreciation for this underrated gem!

Anything from Music could be released as a single really. 10/10 album.

Great song, it's all over the place but in a good way. Very interesting production.

 

The Amazing/Impressive Instant mess probably is the reason it didn't get released as a single.

If I remember correctly she wanted Impressive Instant as the fourth single after WIFLFAG. Warner wasn't here for it at all and wanted Amazing as the fourth single.

 

They couldn't agree on it, so Warner planned to use tour footage for the video for the song and go ahead with Amazing anyway. To prevent them from doing so, Madonna scrapped the song from the setlist.

 

After this debacle the era was over.

 

Amazing track ugh!! Music is such a hidden gem. 
 

I feel like not many people think of it when they think of Madonna but it is absolutely one of her best works. 

Rumour has it, the label wanted to release it as a single. But Madonna didn't. Label sent it as a promo around to radios etc, but Madonna felt like it was too similar to Beautiful Stranger.  The label wanted her to include it in The Drowned World Tour setlist but she said no in case they'd use the live footage for a music video.

This was Amazing, not Runaway Lover.

Good thing because Beautiful Stranger aged like milk.

Music is just as excellent as Ray of Light in my book

Should've been, but she was overworked with the album, motherhood, her comeback tour in almost a decade, 2 movies and respective movie singles in a very short timeframe

Drama over which track to release earlier that year, then the tour took up all of Madonna's time and finally this came out in late 2001:

 

 

LOVE this track, the whole music album could've been a single tbh, such a strong record, love it so much. i'd have died for a clip for this or impressive instant.

Fun fact, a lot of people think "Ray of Light" when they listen to fka twigs' "Girl Feels Good" (and it's understandable) but this is the song that comes to mind when I listen to GFG (this and Kylie's Some Kind of Bliss)

One of her best songs.

Impressive Instant should've been the third single and this should've been the fourth.
