Not really, let's not try to rewrite history. Elton's legacy was already set well before Cold Heart. Just look at his body of work, especially in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Not only did he have a very high peak (he was the artist of the decade in the 70s), he also had incredible longevity (he charted in the Top 40 for 30 years straight - every year in the 70s, 80s, and 90s). Even without Cold Heart, Elton is one of (if not) the greatest musical artists of all time. Cold Heart smashing, after Elton had been gone from the music landscape for so long, only added to his legacy.
