I really like Break Up Twice

 

The problem I have with the two rekeased songs is that they have no unescapeable hook.

 

Truth Hurts, Good As Hell, Juice, About That Time, 2 Be Loved etc. All got stuck after the first listen for me.

That's my favourite song from her by far.

I wanted to like this more than I did. I couldn't figure out which part was the chorus

I support the self-reference in the title

There's no way she's almost 40 and still writing **** that could be found in a Hot Topic tshirt and a "fun wine aunt" twitter feed

The production is lowkey holding the song together this is a grower… I do wish she sampled MJ "who's bad?" throughout the chorus a bit more though. 

This is incredible, I'm afraid to say! 

 

A meditation on life after a downfall. On its surface a rinse-and-repeat cynical recycling of her previous hits from what now feels like a bygone era. But everything HITS. The chorus melody is melancholic and bulletproof, burrowing its way under the skin. "I don't know why life is so f*cked up lately, but after everything, I'm still surviving and I'm still bad, baby" is genuinely affecting! The annoying 3-years-behind-the-zeitgeist-lyrical-quips schtick she does on every song ("plot twist, I'm doing great") is endearing here - the ghostly, last gasp desperate echoes of a superstar-turned-flop. And punctuated by the plea at the end of the bridge: "Still bad, don't forget it" The Teenage Dream-y guitars that build in the 2nd pre-chorus are godly. 

 

Perfect pop song, deserves to be huge - but probs quite fitting if it does flop.

meh. LIRL is better

Better than the last one but the production on the chorus just doesn't go anywhere.  The verses build up nicely but then it just falls flat.  Another miss, unfortunately.

This is receiving more push on radio than her previous one.

The song is fine but a bit derivative of her previous era, I was expecting a 'harder' comeback

I really wanted her to experiment with a different, more dance heavy sound.

I like this! Much better than love in real life. It'll obviously flop, but it gives me some hope for the album
