  1. Summer Walker sent a notice of termination to Interscope, invoking California's "seven-year statute," a state law that allows an individual to exit a personal services contract after that amount of time. The statute was amended in 1987 to allow labels to sue artists for damages if they leave after 7 years but before fulfilling all their album commitments. Under that law, labels have 45 days to bring damages lawsuits in response to contract termination notices. Interscope responded on October 9 by submitting a lawsuit alleging that if Summer does indeed break their deal, she'd owe $50 million for not yet delivering all her promised albums. Walker has only delivered 3 projects from her contract's five-album commitment: her 2019 debut Over It, the 2021 chart-topper Still Over It and Finally Over It, in 2025.
  2. According to Oklahoma's News 9, Tulsa police received a bomb threat call, but a preliminary sweep of the venue by officers and K-9 units found no indication of a threat. Langley and BOK Center nonetheless decided to cancel the show, citing the safety of the fans and venue personnel. x

  9. Mia Goth has filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf after their high-profile separation last year. According to court docs obtained by TMZ, the actress filed Tuesday night, citing the boilerplate "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. She lists their date of separation as July 28, 2025. Shia Labeouf and Mia Goth married in 2016 and welcomed a daughter together in 2022. Mia is asking for primary legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old daughter. She's also requesting to terminate the court's ability to award either her or Shia spousal support.
  10. Stella Lefty debuted a brand new, unreleased song at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville titled "Badly." Shortly after the video of the performance was posted fellow country-pop artist Shaylen and rising pop star, TAELA, took to TikTok to directly call out Stella for copying their 2024 single, "WATCH THIS." In the caption of her Instagram reel TAELA would clarify that she's not trying to attack Lefty personally. "By the way, we are not in any way shape or form trying to tear down another artist. We've both been out here grinding in Nashville for years, independently creating and funding our own music without some massive machine behind us. so when something like this happens, especially when we've been tagged in it and sent it over and over again, i think we're allowed to acknowledge it. And we're not talking about two songs having similar chord progressions or existing in the same genre. we're talking about the vocal melody, phrasing and cadence being essentially identical. at some point that stops feeling like coincidence. The entire principle of creating music is giving credit where credit is due. we will not tear another woman down but we will stand up for something we created." What makes this specific case of Lefty getting accused of ripping off a song so notable is the fact that this marks the first time she has been directly confronted by a fellow artist. Before this, it was all fans and critics who were the driving force behind discovering similarities or "ripoffs." x

But the Bon Jovi album was already 2 years old at that point, and it had regained the top spot for a week only after having been long gone from the chart entirely, via a tricky maneuver that is no longer allowed today. "This House Is Not for Sale" first came out in 2016 and went right to No. 1, and then what was considered a fairly embarrassing fall to No. 43 in its second week, before a gradual disappearance. Travis Scott's "Days Before Rodeo " had already been out for years — its 10 anniversary was being celebrated — before it ascended to the summit under odd circumstances. It had finally been released to DSPs, and about a month into its first streaming release in 2024, it climbed only as high as No. 106 — before suddenly soaring to No. 1 when a first-time vinyl release that had been pre-ordered by fans finally shipped out. After that one-time vinyl deluge hit mailboxes, "Days Before Rodeo" took an instant dive back into chart nowheresville. So neither Bon Jovi nor Travis Scott — whose records had been out from 2-10 years at the time of their ascents and descents — were in the same ballpark as Miley

  14. Tinashe claims her first top 10-charted album on the Billboard 200 as Popstar debuts at No. 6 with 35,500 equivalent album units earned — her best week by units. Of that sum, album sales comprise 22,000 (her best sales week; it debuts at No. 4 on Top Album Sales), SEA units comprise 13,500 (equaling 13.73 million on-demand official streams of the set's songs) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum. First-week sales were bolstered by its availability across eight vinyl and CD variants (five signed), four deluxe/expanded digital download editions with bonus tracks, and a standard digital download album.
