One year of its actions at any point of its history (especially towards the Native American population) is worse than 9/11. Material reality holds that to be true just like it holds that to be true for the IOF. Which is why the comparison is absurd and the label is inappropriate. It's also why the MAJORITY of the world, the global south, in the UN general assembly did NOT vote to condemn Hamas as a "terrorist org." only the global north peddles this continued myth, ironically as their govts and militaries are actual terrorists through the ongoing colonization of the global south.

They weren't banned for being Palestinian though, they were banned for a pattern of abuse towards the administration which, as laid out in the rules that we all agreed to when we signed up, are subject to their discretion. Again, it's pretty easy to not get banned...be respectful and come to the table in good faith and you'll be met with the same courtesy  accusing someone of being a Zionist/genocide supporter because you don't get what you want isn't a serious conversation.

By the same token, the election showed us that blindly supporting a liberal idea of polite Zionism is not popular amongst a country of 300M people and doing unpopular things is simply not how elections work. People were allowed to question when the leading figure of a what is a liberal party called for the unrestricted continuation of a genocide... and they did! They questioned it so much she lost for it! 

 

But instead of accepting that inconvenient political reality - that this was a simple fact of truth - there's still an unsettled anger and lashing out.

 

On the last page alone, there's random attacks aimed still at people who simply called a spade and spade and made basic observations like "I'm not sure that a politician saying an unpopular thing is going to help win in an election where you have to be popular".

 

Even now, months after the election, there's still a desire by some to live in an echo chamber that ignores the facts of how politicians cause themselves to lose.

 

Now.. I'm not asking for kudos or a pat on the back dddd. Being right sometimes doesn't take some mystical wisdom, but this posturing is all silly when like.. I personally have encountered just being like "wow... waffles are delicious!!!" and encountering random users engulfed in rage at me quite literally going "YOU DID THIS TO KAMALA" like as though *I* hacked the voting machines in Kenosha, Wisconsin kjnkjnknkn.  

 

That's the point in all of this. There's no ascertained objectivity you're operating from - it's not that *your* anger and resentments get to magically be reasonable and logical yet the anger of others about other issues is somehow radical and illogical.

Don’t agree with the way our military has done things, and this comes from someone who’s grandfather, two uncles and my mother were in the armed forces. But I get your point.

I've been avoiding Civics lately because of how heated and over-the-tangent the conversations get in there, and yet those conversations arrived this thread 

 

Personally I'm totally Pro-Palestine, and got into a few discussions here and there a few times. I wouldn't say I totally agree with the point of view of some mods about the Gaza situation, but I won't get into emotionally driven arguments because of that, like, I've got better things to do with my life, and all of that negative energy should be directed to the real nazis in power instead

Yeah, but at the same time the 'relatively petty behaviour' was directed at an admin, which goes against the rules, and many users have been banned for that in the past. His fate got sealed once he got into personal space pulling quotes from several months ago against an admin  

 

Like, I'm not sure if he was already over this, and wanted to end it all once and for all on this site, given how you can tell he was affected by stuff on this site, or if he just went into extra emotional mode with no real plan in sight, just to defend someone who was banned for defying an admin 

Whether you like it or not, we live and die at the discretion of the mods and the rules they set. You can't openly antagonize and be a dick to them (and a dick in general, constantly and in every thread) and not face consequences. There's a space and a time for certain things and then there's being an insufferable, abrasive ******* in situations that are completely unrelated.
