Is JADE's rollout messy?

Featured Replies

With the release of the 4th droplet IT GIRL from what seems like her new album rollout, I can't help but wonder if this era even has a chance anymore.

Is there even an album? Why call music videos visualisers? What's going on?

She had the gays gagging with Angel of My Dreams but it seems like the new songs are not making much noise.

I don't think it's messy; she's given us four solid tracks with four solid visuals, which is more than most pop girls can provide.

I feel like it's too early to judge, once the album drops everything can change, she's making some buzz online and making the diehard fans stay perched for the full record so it's a win to me

  • it's clearly been carefully planned and perfectly introduces her as a new artist. she's had 2 singles and 2 promo singles with content for each. it's a more traditional strategy but i'm not sure what'

IT girl was highly anticipated and she teased the (presumed) music video for it along w the drop of AOMD, we thought we were getting it next and soon

instead we got two duds (sorry) while the teasing for IT carried on for another 6 months, only for it to finally drop and us to realise it's just a promo single, the video is now a visualiser and we'd already heard 90% of it via snippets

so, yes it's a mess  :toofunny2:

it's messy in that people aren't doing promotional singles to this degree anymore unless they're indie! she's dishing them out like she's Teenage Dream-era Katy, but the difference here is there's no preadd for the album yet. indie stars love to do rollouts with random single drops, and have their albums be available for preadd, where you get to see at the LEAST how many tracks there are and where the random singles fit in. Jade hasn't done that and that's what's making this feel like a mess to me. I love all 4 songs, but I've also been confused at which ones are meant to be singles and which are meant to just be promo singles! Midnight Cowboy randomly becoming the b-side to Fantasy also befuddled me. but at the end of the day, it's the music that counts the most, and being that it's very high quality is keeping my attention. I'm locked in, and excited for whatever's next from her :giraffe:

i dont care as long as the music is great, which it is

She said in different interviews last year her album will come out in 2025.

The rollout is not typical but she's not an established artist, as a solo, people are discovering her thanks to her singles/promo singles which is good. All the music she has released as a concept and it's personal so she's actually let people know about her, her story and her sound. That's great.

I think there was an expectation that the music videos for the singles that followed AOMD were going to be from the perspective of each of the different Jade's we were first introduced to in that video.

When it became apparent that was not happening and another director came on board, things felt like they were losing a little bit of shape and direction.

Also, record companies don't always know what is going to strike a chord and resonate with the public. They thought "Fantasy" would strike that chord - so a huge budget was allocated to it.

Artists also like to show "range", diversity/ that they have the capacity to explore and master contrasting styles and genres of music.

This is why Jade and her label were resistant to "It Girl" being elevated in status beyond a promo buzz single like MC.

However, the buzz surrounding the "It Girl" snippets has been steadily increasing for months and any record label would be stupid to squander and throw away that kind of organic buzz.

Yes, after AOMD - they would have preferred that buzz to have been on "Fantasy" so that Jade could speak in interviews about her old-school Motown influences, but the public have spoken - "It Girl" has been elevated in status as we wanted and ultimately everyone is (mostly) happy about that.

It is also a nice touch that they've finally course corrected the campaign and brought back one of the Jade's from the AOMD video - a theme which they should have stuck to all along with the other two visuals.

Single - promo single - Single - promo single is confusing now? All are even tied together by either being or having a music video alluding to her experiences with fame. Third single and album are coming soon.

IT girl and Midnight Cowboy (the end of IG is the start of MC) visualizers are both literally connected, what do you mean with "finally bringing back one of the AOMD Jades" :toofunny3:

Even the one on Fantasy is the version of herself that was unsigned singing in the street, and corrupted by fame by the end of the Fantasy video.

Edited by Popboi.

She's dumping as many songs as she can waiting for one to stick. A very common strategy actually.

This is why I don't partake of Stan culture.

The Jade in the 'AOMD S.A.D.' version is the Jade that married the Record Exec and then stormed out the limo.

I never realised that about the 'Fantasy' Jade. :jonnycat:

yall just can't comprehend anything above the standard 2-singles eras of today

Jade (and Kesha's) rollouts have been very irritating. They both got summer streaming hits yet won't move on them with a proper album announcement.

I do get when you are indie though there is more incentive to release a bunch of songs and see what might take off, but I think it's definitely time now to get the pre add up.

Are we calling it messy just because she didn't release the songs you wanted her to release when you wanted her to release them? :celestial5:

No, I think it's better for her. Similar to Chappell Roan with all the pre-album singles. Maybe one will take off after the album release.

She's just introducing herself still. And she doesn't really need a `hit`. I think she is just carving out a niche base for herself. She's already had commercial success with Little Mix. At this point she's just doing it more for fun and the solo critical response.

She's doing perfectly fine.

I don't mind a roll out where multiple singles get released upfront but it's not the smartest strategy tbh. All that hype from Angel Of My Dreams has kinda faded away now and most casual listeners don't really care that much anymore, only her biggest fans. And it's also kinda odd that there isn't even a proper pre-order/release date set. Let alone an album title.

We've had two official singles and two promo singles in between official releases.

We've had promo for AOMD and Fantasy including live performances and she's giving us content for each promo singles.

How is this a messy release?

I think it's fine but it's definitely frustrating that she's released 4 songs and still no album announcement. we're gonna gave half of the album already by the time it finally comes
