Honestly I don't think anyone is. Ariana was a mess from the beginning but the problems started even before that.

She made the posts on Bubble 2 DAYS before the SK/China olympic controversy you mentioned blew up. She mentioned her teacher said some Chinese athletes were alumni of her school and won. She congratulated them and she made other posts congratulating all athletes at the same time (which were conveniently ignored).

 

Radical netizens cherry picked and hijacked her posts and it basically descended rapidly into attacking her for being Chinese. Threatening her and demanding her removal from aespa. She did nothing wrong.

i know most mys in here won't remember because it was before next level, when most of them didn't success stan yet!! i only remember you being in the trenches with me when this entire thread was accusing aespa of sajaegi and calling ningning animal names on NL release day

anyway that was all in the past now. Ningning will have a thriving career in China once her K-pop stint is over 

im just saying publicly supporting the nation's opps when in the middle of a national scandal while you're promoting in korea isn't a very good move PR wise

 

but like zack mentioned she had a lot of reasons to support them. it's a multi layered issue where she had her own personal relationships, feelings and identity as a chinese citizen clashing with her being in the spotlight in korea. it would actually be a good case study for PR research

It's true regarding people manipulating the hate narrative, however though in my reply, I was disagreeing with you calling her "dumb" for posting about the Chinese golds, when 1. it was before the cheating allegations blew up, 2. it was from a different event than the one involved in the allegations, 3. she had zero bad intentions and also praised all athletes, not just China and 4. there is no issue with her supporting her home country in such an inoffensive way. There was no way she could have known there would be a China vs. SK scandal just 2 days later. NINGNING can do many things, but as far as we know, she does not possess the ability to foresee events in our space-time continuum.

 

If anything it was unfortunate and unfair that she got pulled into the crossfire by people with bad intentions. 

 

Luckily people backed off once it became clear the truth had been twisted.
