YG doesn't have a track record of debuting girl groups 2 years apart like SM had?

SM didn't at that time. They had debuted SES in 1997 then Shinvi and Isak N Jiyeon in 2002. Isak N Jiyeon basically got reworked into CSJH The Grace for Jiyeon (Lina) in 2005.

Either way, YG had an influx of trainees come to them after BP started hitting it big so I'm not surprised in the slightest that they're finally debuting them. Most of the major labels need at least two active girl groups at all times to remain profitable.

it's really not hard to see that YG's been trying for BP 2.0. baemon 2023 debut flopped including baemon's 2024 redebut with ahyeon, and now a year later he's conceding and going back to the 4-member trusted formula.

The way he tried to make it seem like the number 4 isn't important but it will in fact be his 4th four member GG to debut :monkey:

I imagined YG already scrubbed any controversial trainee clips already so 2NE1 3.0 can be free from any n-word scandals. It'll be his first GG in 3 gens to do so! :cm:

SkILLIT could never give peak anything.

so I remembered that rumor that babymonster was gonna be a mix of FinKL and TLC. a more 90s/Y2K group

but they ended up being a blackpink copy

I wonder if they'll use that concept for the new group

I tried to google it and apparently that rumor has been going around since 2012 lol

Possible Information Revealed Regarding YG's New Girl Group

Music fans have been patiently waiting months for some information to be released on YG Entertainment's newest girl group. During that time, minimal knowledge and a few practice videos were made public which caused many to speculate about the new group.

A recent post made to an online community site created quite a buzz online. The post displayed a supposed teaser image revealing information on the group. The teaser images were, allegedly, posted by accident. According to the image the group's name will be TLC-F.  Hypothetically, the group's name pays tribute to girl groups of the past as, the TLC comes from the American female hip-hop group from the 90's and the F for classic K-Pop girl group Fin.K.L. A statement from an unknown poster further explained, "TLC-F will be a combination of a hip-hop and a feminine style group. The first teaser will be released on September 2 followed by a second on September 10. The album along with the debut track's MV will be released on September 25."

The image also reveals the group's album title to be "250% Percent." The album's title track is said to be "Game 2 Play," which is rumored to feature Big Bang's Daesung in the music video. According to YG Entertainment's Wikipedia page, they will make their debut after SuPearls, the agency's other rookie girl group, and Epik High's highly anticipated comeback.

altho one could describe blackpink like this as well: "a combination of a hip-hop and a feminine style group"

YG had two female teams back then: Pink Punk and future 2NE1. Pink Punk debuted as Blackpink and Future 2NE1 was scrapped. It's obvious that plans changed drastically by now.

yeah I didn't know the rumor was that old

there were articles around 2022 that babymonster was gonna be like that, but that would've probably been based on those old plans

tho I'm curious to see what kind of group YGNGG will be. like they can't just put out another bp/bm type group that quick? but then again it's YG :gaycattel:

4 members has been YG's girl group signature for years. They are the kings of recycling.

Big Mama - 4 members, R&B, ugly-dols

2NE1 - 4 members, electropop, R&B, ugly-dols

BlackPink - 4 members, electropop, models (than you, SNSD), lineup cloned from 2NE1

BabyMonster - 8 members, electropop, models, lineup cloned (most notably Rami and Bom)

If we get another Bom vocal clone in this group :skull:

Swi.T - 3 Members R&B, Pop, they couldn't sing to save their lives but they were pretty and delivered Bops.

WAIT... Lee Youngseo was spotted at High Up Entertainment (StayC) with the debut lineup GG

BABYMONSTER might use a lot of YouTube ads, but they are still the biggest 5th gen group overall.

I think the 5th gen ranking is like this:

  1. BABYMONSTER
  2. ILLIT
  3. Kiss of Life
  4. RIIZE
  5. BOYNEXTDOOR

They should've been called just gen 4.5 then. This only makes them seem like a really flopped era if they can't even compete with the groups of the "previous" gen

BABYMONSTER, ILLIT and Kiss Of life can indeed compete with 4th gen groups especially when you look at their streaming numbers globally etc.

Exactly They are 4.5

The bp tour is soooo gonna be a disaster, I can see the four of them serving while singing their solos and then mess around during the group songs.
