Just like they established that LSF and NJ were "5th gen." It's just desperate stans trying to claim records that their faves didn't earn. BabyMonster were revealed six months after NewJeans and 1/3 of RIIZE debuted before Aespa did.

 

YG's actual fifth gen GG is already announced and SM has SMTR25 coming. 
 

Gen 1: 1992 - mid 2001

Gen 2: late 2001 - mid 2009

Gen 2.5: late 2009 - early 2012

Gen 3: mid 2012 - early 2018

Gen 4: mid 2018 - late 2024

 

There's no way 4th gen lasted less than 5 years. That's not even a generation, sis.

SKZ was definitely way more popular at the same point in their careers. My Pace was literally their first comeback for example, which was among the top 10 most popular bg songs of that year.

 

SKZ were actually popular from debut, but they were considered "flops" by Big 3 standards at the time. That said, the expectations for Big 3 groups were much higher back then compared to today.

They were also the first JYP group to debut after TWICE, and their debut happened right in the middle of TWICE's peak and the peak of 3rd gen overall, so naturally, any comparison made them seem less successful in contrast.

The huge gap between releases is because SM spent several years ignoring IRENE long after her scandal blew over. 

 

Really they could have had a comeback in 2023, but SM only really started acknowledging her and the unit once she renewed her contract.

Well they have to keep it PG so that Korean networks will air the MV/song. Otherwise it would get banned. I mean SM already folded under pressure and deleted the oyster teaser.

 

I think the "sexual" elements are more in the lyrics. I was quite surprised since the lyric theme is very mature even for RV standards, but in a good way.

Listen again  it's not fully instant, cause there is no explosive chorus, but the more you listen the more addictive it becomes, cause you notice the details and how they all come together. I felt the same way about Whiplash for example

Joshua had my fave song on the Seventeen album. That was lowkey a slog I don't think I needed that many solos but it was alright
