This is horrible… where was the budget? deadbanana2

Their whole debut has been so confusing, but I guess SM is just doing a buzz release method. Digital singles don't bring in revenue so they aren't investing since there's 0 chance at a return on the budget. I guess they just wanted them to have a performance-heavy song they could perform while doing pre-promo for a more commercial song that they'll actually push.

It's just a shame that they weren't willing to put anything into the group.

Y'all celebrating a minor being sued for pointing out obvious plagiarism. I don't get it.

Who are half of these people, supposed to be famous at Katseye concert.

SM must be putting all their money into Hits2Hits and NCT Wish because GPP truly got 100 yen and a dream for this debut redface probably the longest song I've heard in from J/K-Pop in a minute tho

Application for an arrest?

Bang Sihyuk will be indicted. He is already banned from leaving the country and some of his assets are frozen. I don't think there is much of an incentive to have him arrested on top of it while the trial is ongoing. Then again, Hybe somehow got the Kakao founder arrested when he did nothing, so who knows with all these evil men running the country, weaponizing the law against each other like they are playing ping pong.

When that game tech CEO (that one fanatic of AI) who somehow get all the music related promotions will be the head of HYBE while Bang Si Hyuk will be in jail.

Everything released from GPP is literally horrible so far. What is SM doing...? biblio

And this time nobody is even blaming the girls, they don't choose what they put on. This is exactly what happened when they debuted and everyone shared the same opinion before the drama, and then after deleting comments on live and some statements from Belift, everybody got amnesia. But this time neither MHJ or NJ are involved, it's just the public having eyes.

I'm really just trying to understand the psychology ATP because if my group got dragged for a year for something and finally started building goodwill with the public again, I would be furious at the company for opening them up to hate, not cheering them on to sue minors for pointing it out. They're crazy.

BTW: to everyone gagging and cheering over this lawsuit, Belift is basically just heckling to get money out of people because their group isn't as successful as they want it to be. Cheering that instead of buying their album is crazy work

Hybe stole MHJ shares in Ador and sued her for it. Then they plagiarized and bullied Newjeans and sued them too. In South Korea, the perpetrator sues you. cm

This grew on me so much. It's giving 2nd gen girl crush but with 5th gen spices and herbs

I'm honestly quite shocked to see people in here say they don't want to hear about this anymore.

Part of the reason why there's nothing to talk about rn in K-pop is because a conglomerate company is slowly pushing everyone else out of the market, and oversaturating it with a bunch of dupes. A lot of people get into K-pop as an escape to experience something new, unapologetically maximalist, and unique that doesn't really exist anymore in western pop. We went from 2022, when multiple groups from different companies were punching and one-upping each other with every comeback breaking records… to now where the biggest K-pop hit is from a Netflix movie and there's been more scandals than memorable songs. It's all turning into corporate sludge and botted engagement, and the music isn't even good anymore. To me, the timeline of this decline goes hand in hand with that company's shift into a conglomerate. This NewJeans/MHJ situation isn't about just them as a group, but the future of the genre as a whole.

Have the people who support a conglomerate that plagiarizes their artists between subsidiaries, and then sues their fans for speaking out, thought about what K-pop will look like in 5 years if this continues? When any new group comes out and finds success, HYBE will PR/Internal document their way into destroying them via negative virality and then siphon off whatever they want whether that be their creative, staff, sound, etc. and then churn it back out as payola'd Hybe slop. It's already been happening. I guarantee you this isn't just a NewJeans situation but any group in the future they view as a threat.

This is why I asked the Tag PR Hybe bot yesterday if something like this has happened before in any k-pop company… To point out that supporting this is setting a dangerous new precedent. &ofc I got the usual patronizing gaslighting response. And others kikiing and celebrating the nasty tactics that will eventually kill the industry. It's unfortunate, but very reflective of the way our society is now in general. Corporates sucking the joy out of literally everything
