You all really underestimate Carmen's voice. Ye-On is also a really good vocalist. The other girls haven't had the chance to show anything yet, but SM usually tries to hide that. Remember how everyone gagged when Karina revealed her vocal talents on "Savage?" I wouldn't be shocked if we find out some other girls can sing in the future.

It's not. It's a pre-release single which will feature on the mini album. The word single has been used to describe the H2H song by SM. A B-side is different and typically does not receive a full scale MV when it is initially released.

 

Singles get a specific label on music sites, including Melon. H2H's song has the single label, since it has been released as a pre-release single. Butterflies does not have this label, since it *was* a B-side to The Chase, not a single or pre-release single (and only received a MV later, a while after its release)

And that is exactly similar to pre-release singles, which are still just B-sides and not singles at all in the Western market. I'm sure that if SM was expecting a smash or wanting to give it a full push, it would have been a title track and not just a pre-release.

 

As far as not being able to cover Wendy, she's a rookie just six months in. Wendy is a one-of-kind vocalist and she's not just going to be replicated every generation. If we're setting our standards at her level, then nobody in 5th gen can sing.

I'm glad aespa's management made this almost in a direct response to the criticisms: live vocals, lighting, back up dancers, better camera angles. And you'll see that there's barely any criticism because this performance wasn't awkward like the other one. I think we as fans have to understand that maybe when there's a performance that a lot of people are saying was bad, maybe because it really was. Sure, it always come with harassment that artists shouldn't receive and there are some pretty vile comments that are just from bad people so that's not what I'm defending, but saying a performance is bad and awkward is not hate. If you're a singer and do a bad performance you'll get dragged, and that had been a thing outside kpop, before HYBE, and will continue long after HYBE is gone. Even HYBE artists have suffered from it too. Like I said, I'm not defending harassment, but people dismissing all the criticism as hate from HYBE stans remind me of ARMYs defending BTS fans saying haters are SM sheeps, which does sound a bit delulu. We like our faves so we tend to like the way they perform, so what's a "fine" performance for fans might be bad for non fans and so I wish we wouldn't dismiss all criticism as hate.

@Sheep This is what I meant. Luckily LYW and Day6 are dropping fast (their album tracks drop out of the chart after two to three weeks) but they're massive competition for top digital acts of the year.

Next year is going to be sooooo funny for us remaining hags and so humbling for the increasingly pathetic Big Bang replacement stans. 2026 BB comeback and 2027 SNSD are the entree, 2025 GD domination was only the appetizer. No more excuses to hide behind either on domestic charts OR in touring stats for the hack stans, only landfill albums and filtered streams that only ever decrease.
