They're literally the ones who asked to make a kpop techno song. They didn't have the time to write the song, so they pitched their ideas and brought the writers they wanted!  This is creative control!

Ok so i just listened to both TWICE and Blackpink songs....and let me just get this out of the way...my 3rd gen stan self is a bit disappointed.

 

Both are so damn short and the choruses are absolute trash. I mean I can't believe Twice ditched their usual FULL pop perfection choruses for...that. The unison-shouting alone doesn't do it if it isnt coupled with some actual melodies. Strategy was perfect because there was a balance between unison-chanting and actual separate chorus with an actual melody. But this was already my least fave snippet from the album preview so yeah. BP's chorus also just doesn't do anything for me, it's literally just a random beat looped which doesn't have any oomf factor that their previous instrumental-choruses had. I can't believe Pink Venom now sounds like a well-crafted song with some thought gone into it compared to this 

 

now the verses are much much better, Twice has so many gorgeous harmonies and adlibs throughout the song and i'm so glad the girls have been going IN with the harmonies in the studio lately. The last post-chorus(?) was a nice touch. And I love the fact that they're utilizing Jeongyeon's beautiful tone more. Mina's angelic vocals being absent throughout was such a bizarre moment though, which explains itself because there was no bridge and she's always been the bridge queen. And BP's prechorus is great, it almost makes you feel like you're going somewhere before...arriving nowhere 

 

anyway, I loved the MV for both. Twice was stunning all around. Bp was camp. But i gotta say the Twice MV should have used more color, and they could've tried a bit harder to make the BP girls look a little less..AI-esque.

 

What makes me most excited for now is to listen to the Twice album because I have a feeling it's already their best album as this one sounds so much more chill and R&B heavy compared to FOL. What's one disappointing title track if we have 13 other amazing songs to listen to? Oh and the subunits...oh lord they're gonna floor me with those based on the previews 

And I also hope BP comes with a full album to compensate for this...lukewarm release.

Also cackled at the fact that every single song on the Twice album is better than the title track, but why is almost every song under 3 min, like throw Momo, Chae and Dahyun a bone and write in a rap verse or 2.
