Unironically, the same happened with Billie, with HMHAS being much more successful than HTE. I think in both cases the second album cemented their status in a way that the third album felt way more like an event in music. The world needs a song like Nicole Kidman to smash hard. It just shows pop music can be as simple and catchy as it sounds without being necessarily overthought or with a busy and complex production. Aside from the Ariana/Doja comparisons, it brings me back to a time when pop music was so simple yet so effective with the likes of Fergie, Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado.

This should be a must-hear for every pop lover. It won't get the attention many electro pop albums are having lately (from BRAT to Slayyyter to underscores, and even Detour) but it belongs in the exact same league. And I think it also shows her strengths extremely well. A masterclass in production, she manages to get the most out of her vocals and it just shows a lot of passion and creativity.
