well IHHM sounds better on my second listen

some of the lyrics are just sooo cringe to me though, especially katy singing them

MTE, albums like brat had questionable moments/songs, but because it was so overhyped people are subconsciously biased. 

I get that she's an idiot, I get that it's an outdated sound, but, we get thousands mindless dance records every year, this is not bad. Generic yes, bad? Let alone the worst album you've heard? People are just pilling on cause of everything that's happened and exaggerating. She had it coming though.

This album SLAPS. Her best in 11 years. 

If it was produced the exact same way by anybody else apart from that fucker, the reactions would've been way different. I'm not saying this deserves critical acclaim by any means, but it's Katy and all she ever served was dumb bops. I don't see the drastic drop in quality in the context of her discography. 

This is so boring and Lifeless, even with Kim's later music, it just feels like Dr. Luke's (despite being disgusting) new production style is super minimalist and it makes the songs feel empty and monotone.

 

He makes one loop instrumental and then loops it for 2-3 minutes and adds like an extra drum to the chorus.

Imagine Apollo stans calling anything "uninspired"

Are you listening to the same thing? Even without the Luke thing, it's terrible. Mindless Pop is her thing and songs like How We Do are as brainless as they come but this is next level vapid.

Nope. Dr. Luke is just another reason to hate towards her not a main thing. Luke didn't touched her previous 2 albums and people were still mean towards her

Also most of people that were angry about that she worked with him probably streamed Say So a lot of times. Luke is problem for some people as long as song isn't a hit 

I think her working with Luke opens her up to more backlash tbh. If 143 wasn't produced by Luke she wouldn't be lashed this hard. 

After like 12 listens through I love all the songs. As someone who actually likes Katy, this album is great and I am happy to have these songs for the rest of time. It's really good music and if less people get it, well it's their loss.

People forgot about Luke being in this project after Womans World. So they started hating for other reasons. "Lifetimes is Chat GPT song" "Katy and Doechii is doing lesbian things for male gaze"

i'm kinda enjoying this album tbh  even though it's generic and lifeless

most of the tracks feel unfinished though… like they could've been GREAT songs instead of decent

If we're talking about this forum, everyone's mean to every pop girl, whether it stems from being a music fan or, in a lot of cases, actual misogyny which this place reeks of. It's hard to root for someone who's..........not that talented or  smart enough to market herself to at least seem more talented. Her delivering on undeniably good music in her prime in spite of that was her strength but years have gone by, the music climate has changed multiple times and her own albums couldn't compete with Teenage Dream so this happened.

And these people probably enjoyed can't remember to forget you by Rihanna and Shakira so much. So in conclusion. People are always would find something to be mean towards Katy and this is a sad fact. Sadder fact is this that she did that era like this because people were saying to her for years she need to do 2010 basic pop music and bring back dark long hair. On the next album she should listen again to herself
