Yeah the sing talking in the verses reminded me of skinny dipping which is why I hated it so much first listen  

 

i like the chorus but i just cannot get into how basic the verses are. I'm happy she's smashing though. She's the only girl bringing pure pop right now while serving budget music videos

I'll literally never had one of my faves blow up this overnight and I'm not sure how to take it 

I figured the debut would be strong based on YouTube and AM numbers (and the way it's popping off on TikTok) but I am curious…is this goodwill spill over from Espresso popping off combined with a buzzy video that got a lot of people talking or are people really in it because they love the song? Will it maintain or drop? I feel like the chorus has so much replay value if the song clicks for you so we'll see.

 

Either way it pushed Espresso back up to the top spot and I imagine that was a big reason for its release so there's that.

You know…I just listened again it's not THAT bad I guess.
 

But the mixing is off…like her vocals are too loud, bass + drums not loud enough…something is off and it's bothering me.  
 

But the melody and concept is not bad.  It just doesn't go anywhere production-wise or vocally.

The video aesthetic is everything and the song is pop gold.   It has a little bit of Lana attitude to it.

She isnt the greatest vocalist but she knows how to use her voice stylistically. The song is ok and i love her style and looks from the music video.2024 is her year no doubt. She's blowing up this year right before our eyes. MPG incoming. The music industry is very fickle and moves in ebbs and flows. One moment its rodrigo,eilish who are on top one moment its  taylor and now carpenter. Im talking about being the it girl. They all have their fanbases and thats fine but its always nice seeing an underdog get her moment. No more being on the sidelines.
