For the people who dislike the song what type of song did you expect Perrie to release for her debut?

 

If she didn't release a safe song she would have risked being too divisive. Just like how Leigh released DSL which was generic and safe compared to ML for her debut. 
 

Id still keep an eye out for her follow up and album as I'm sure there's gonna be a few surprises.

I'm surprised at everyone saying this reminds them of Kelly Clarkson when this reminds me the most of a Halsey cut. Eastside or Graveyard immediately came to mind when I first heard this due to the lyrics and production.

 

Continue to watch this please. Sitting at 220k. Would be nice to get 500k for first week until MV comes out.

Yeah, I like the second half of the song when the drums kick in but the first minute or so is just so clunky and jarring to me it really throws me off every time I listen to it. I'm also still hopeful that I'll enjoy some of her follow up material a little more than this. I am pleased she's seeing some success with this, but I do feel like she's capable of better.

I can't see when else they would release the video though? Releasing it halfway through the tracking week wouldn't be a good idea, but if they released it on Friday the extra streams will help offset the drop in physical sales and maybe stop a big second week drop on the charts

I honestly don't have a problem with how "generic" it is, there's nothing wrong a little faceless generic bop every now and then. And if we're being honest, this is exactly the type of sound Perrie was going to lead with ddd. The thing that I don't like about it is just how clunky it is and the way the first minute or so is structured, it's like the song resets to the beginning halfway through ddd.

 

The hook is catchy and perfect for radio though so it's a safe choice for a debut single. I am a little surprised it's doing so well on streaming though, I thought maybe she'd struggle a little bit and maybe it would take her a bit longer to build any momentum with streams.

Not releasing the music video on release day is so...weird? Like man, it's her debut single !!!

In all seriousness though, I haven't really been listening to this all that much as I can't *quite* get in to as much as I'd like to, but I am pleased she's off to a good start and look forward to what happens next.

This doesn't surprise me, she got a much higher placement on the Scandinavian / Northern European New Music Friday playlists compared to the rest of Europe. 
 

I suppose her team are focusing on U.K./Ireland/Northern Europe first before pushing her elsewhere
