It's truly over. The fact that people who aren't even affiliated with the lawsuit are coming forward & saying that what she's being accused of is true, so this is not just "sensationalized stories" i fear

 

Also the details of the allegations are so spesific that even the most creative people in the world wouldn't make a whole scenario like that, in that particular way i'm sorry

 

I hope the former dancers will get the justice they deserve when this situation would to go to the court

Tbh she probably can't say much to address the allegations, can she? It's not like the dancers just went on Instagram and said she did all this. They filed a lawsuit.

Not a big fan of Lizzo but I'm not prepared to jump on a hate train against her. Let it play out in court. She's denying the allegations for her case, obviously, so she won't apologise.

 

The evidence is stacked against her right now but I'm just not comfortable writing her off as some evil person so fast when she had a very unproblematic reputation like a few days ago Some of y'all were just WAITING to cancel her. It's possible that there is more nuance to the situation than how it looks right now

 

 

What in the world is this apology?

Yeah, this statement is garbage and the weird 'taking your employees to a sex club' stuff clearly happened.

 

The one thing that still strikes me as strange in this is the 'fired because of her weight gain' allegation. If you have a slim dancer, that dancer's weight/fitness can theoretically impact their ability to perform the job and in that sense could be a relevant criteria for an employer to comment on, if it hinders their performance. And on top of that, dancers are in a grey area like models where aesthetics are a big part of their job, so the 'nobody should ever be body shamed at their place of employment' stance becomes a little blurry.

 

But these are plus size dancers, chosen specifically because they are not slim. I'm really struggling to see why a plus sized dancer becoming more plus sized would be a problem. I can see the reverse being an issue, if one of the dancers was losing too much weight and no longer portraying the 'body positive' image that is being strived for. But I really can't imagine why they would care about the reverse? The dancers are already not skinny, so why would they pick an arbitrary heavier weight and declare that as the new metric that the dancers shouldn't go above? Maybe I'm missing something obvious and others can enlighten me

 

To me, the bodyshaming allegations just seem a little too targeted to hurt Lizzo's public image, since body positivity is her whole shtick. And something like that could easily turn people against Lizzo, since if she herself is a fat shamer, it suddenly becomes okay again for the public to fat shame Lizzo and discredit her with all the usual fatphobic attitudes and opinions. And maybe that's the reason the 'fired for being fat' allegation is the only one she actually denies in the statement, because it's the only one that's actually not true.

This sentence here is giving me I don't want to be held accountable for when I cross other people's boundaries.

Lemme preface it by saying: who knows what the truth actually is. Everyone involved is owed due process. 

 

HOWEVER...

 

The last few days have been DISGUSTING...and I'm not even a Lizzo fan. 

 

This "someone is automatically guilty because they've been accused of xyz" cancellation bs is literal insanity and almost makes us humans as a species seem dense af.

 

Did the possibility that they easily could be disgruntled employees just casually fly over everyone's head? It's not a far-fetched possibility. 

 

Add to that the fact that ALL of us would want to be extended a certain amount of grace if ever accused of something in our REAL LIFE makes the willfulness to drive in the opposite directions when it comes to celebs so hypocritical and mindboggling. 

 

Again, who knows what the truth is. Lizzo may be guilty, she may be innocent. But I'm not hanging her or anyone to no cross until the evidence is presented and is irrefutable.

 

The likes of Tory Lanez, Weinstein, and Bill Cosby all deserve their ish, because the evidence is undeniable. Trying to cancel someone simply because a) you didn't like them already and b) because someone said they did xyz (without proof yet) is stupidity x infinity.

She's going to court about all this, so it wouldn't be a good idea to apologize. Apologizing for all this could be used against her in court since they can say it proves she knows she did something wrong. If her plan is to fight back, it would make sense not to apologize right now.

Well, that’s why I found it odd she didn’t defend herself either.. Saying it was just disgruntled employees. If she was fighting it in court, anything in her defense wouldn’t necessarily matter either since she bothered to put the letter out
