Lizzo releases statement

The way she couldn't actually disprove any of the allegations and pulled the "disgruntled former employee" card. :skull: It's over for her.

If she had the means to disprove the allegations, it would be incredibly stupid to show them publicly before going to court.

the statement doesn’t really say much at all but since this is a legal matter it’s what I expect.  Doesn’t really change my opinion on anything.  I still believe she had a toxic workplace.

I need her to release a cover of Gossip Toxic Train.. put some flute on it, miss maam.

She's going to court about all this, so it wouldn't be a good idea to apologize. Apologizing for all this could be used against her in court since they can say it proves she knows she did something wrong. If her plan is to fight back, it would make sense not to apologize right now.

She should settle out of court IMO

I think if you know about PR this statement is the only thing she can do now. She cant say what yall want here because that will not do anything in her favor in court. This doesnt mean anything but a vague statement like this is needed for her at this point. She cant stay silent but also cant speak a lot. I feel like her team will try to settle out at court.

(This post is not saying that she is right or anything)

i did my best to give her the benefit of the doubt but i can’t anymore :deadbanana4:

That statement was a mess. She literally taking no accountability about the toxic workplace she created and just saying these brave female dancers who have filed the lawsuit as disgruntled employees while not denying the allegations. The statement itself was vague and meaningless. She even had the cheek to praise herself at the end. What a narcissist.

Lizzo is guilty for sure!!! Hope the dancers get justice.

What I take from this is that lizzo and her lawyers are pretty sure she will win otherwise they would have settled outside court

with  a lawyer like this you know she is guilty

1. Attempt to discredit the victims by insulting them without mentioning anything specific so they can't refute it.

2. No actual refutation or mention of any of the allegations other than the weight-shaming (which was the least severe aspect of the lawsuit).

3. “I am very open with my sexuality and expressing myself but I cannot accept of allow people to use that openness to make me out to be something I am not.” GIRL WHAT?! That is basically an admission of guilt as far as I'm concerned.

She's guilty. She's done. Sorry.

Guilty or not.  Why would she apologize ?? :deadbanana: she’s being sued! This isn’t just a social media accusation

Were no other lawyers willing to represent her, or what?

People expecting her to apologize clearly don’t know how the law works. She’s innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Have the lawyer write up a statement instead, then. This isn't helping her legally or PR-wise.

I mean I kind of assumed that’s what this statement is, no? That’s why it took her long to post it.

It sounds like it's coming directly from her and that the lawyer probably looked over it before posting. The smarter strategy would have been to have the lawyer write the statement from their perspective. Basically, "these are shocking allegations and my client is looking forward to her date in court in order for the truth to come out." None of this "sensationalized stories" and "sexually open" stuff that could be interpreted the way it's being interpreted right now.

Well I agree that would have been better lol.  I’m just shocked at people who were upset that there was no apology.

Well she could have done us all a favor and not release a self-indulged waffle of a statement. This statement has made her look even worse in many people's eyes.
