Gorjesspazze9 Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 (edited) I live in a very quiet suburbs. But a few years back I lived in an apartment in a college town, and the neighbors would be loud 24/7. Like they literally just never shut up, even at 5 in the morning💀 butnother then the noise I never had to deal with people or thier behavior issues Edited July 11, 2023 by Gorjesspazze9
Take Me Apart Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 (edited) not at all they’re a cute old white couple I don’t see them often but when I wait for the elevator on my way down I can hear bird sounds coming from their house Edited July 11, 2023 by Take Me Apart
futurenostalgic Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Right now, no. Aside from screaming kids and loud conversations on balconies which are more frequent in the summer rn, I can live with them. But during the pandemic, I used to live next to this more expensive apt building and this one person had the loudest speakers jfc I could not escape them, but thank god so many people complained and they left
Jotham Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 No, they're very sweet. They check my mail whenever I'm gone and host block parties every Halloween.
sh0ckw4ves Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 For the most part no, I live on a super nice quiet block which is close to the beach and some parks and I really love it here however… the guy opposite me will play his music so loud and leave the door wide open so everyone can hear it (?) even if someone asks him to turn it down. Weirdly he only does it from like 10AM-3PM so at least it’s not all night but it is annoying when I work from home
Pop Life Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 (edited) The woman in the apartment next to ours was a human chimney and would chain smoke for hours every day. The smoke would creep in under the door and through the windows even when we had everything closed up. It made everything our living room and guest room smell like an ashtray and I was always either nauseous or fighting a migraine because of the stench. Everybody on our floor complained for months but she didn't give a **** Management finally caught her in the act and I couldn't stop myself from cackling when I overheard her on her phone begging a friend to let her stay with them because she was getting kicked out of the building. I'm pretty sure she heard me through the wall but I didn't care Edited July 11, 2023 by Pop Life
Outlaws Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Nope. My neighbors are my BF's colleagues and we get along pretty well.
Nazareth Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 I’m basically a ghost in my neighbourhood, and avoid people at all costs. In the summer, people do tend to congregate in the outside green space outside, but they’re gone when it’s dark, so it’s not too much of a bother. I hate my boyfriends neighbourhood tho just feel so uncomfortable walking around there.
May Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 no but in my last house I had this married couple who moved onto our street which was ALL student accomodatoon and then got mad that the students were studenting and having parties etc. Like ma’am you know the stereotypes about students don’t move onto a student street and the husband would walk into our house in the middle of the night too

It’s like people who move downtown and then get bars/other places shut down because of filing noise complaints. Like… you knew that you were moving upstairs to a bar?

Like… you knew that you were moving upstairs to a bar? exactly like how do you drop £300K+ on a house and you dont bother to consider that every other house on the street is filled with young students it was especially annoying bc as soon as they moved in they built an extension and the construction work woke everyone up every morning and was ridiculously loud throughout the day for 6 long months, yet if anyone dared have music on after 9pm it was game over Edited July 11, 2023 by May
The Man Who Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 I actually don’t! I live on a cul-de-sac and I’m friendly with all of my neighbours. I think it helps that I live in a detached house as I’ve never even heard my neighbours playing music or listening to their television before.
John Slayne Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 no, I've not had any major issues thankfully. i live in a houseshare with 3 other men and they're tame too, we mostly just mind our business.
Badgalbriel Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Yeah. My neighbor listens to loud electronic music all day. It's unbearable
thetea Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 yes my neighbours are terrible. they have these horrible teenage girls and their father who come and go between that house and another house somewhere else. they constantly bring their pitbull and let it run free on our street, it's tried to attack me 4 times at this point, they're lucky a child or person hasn't been mauled by their dog.it nearly bit me this one time i was coming out of my uber drunk and it was outside my house taking a **** they're also constantly playing their terrible music and yelling / having fights with each other. the police also visit their house regularly. i've debated calling oranga tamariki (child protection) on the father because he neglects his children constantly. one time one of their small children crawled onto the road. i'm not even making this up
Johnny Jacobs Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 we had one tbh. he kept throwing awful karaoke nights loudly almost every other day until someone egged his house. also our community council (i dont know how to call it, board or management staff) fined him. then he stopped. overall a very cool, quiet and friendly gated community
Bacardo Royale Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 More like unhinged, I had to file a restraining order against him
kandicha Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 my neighbors are mostly elderly. they're very quiet and sweet. i'm grateful for them.
LCTV Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 I basically live more at work than the apartment. There's loud af construction in the mornings during the week sometimes but other than that I don't think anyone lives in the unit next to me and the other wall is the elevator / stairwell which isn't loud.
Unreachable101 Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Yes! They are friendly and we greet each other in the halway; but what annoys me is that they leave their bin bags in front of their door 🤢
brenda-walsh Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 yess my roommatest and i have a good suspicion they're drug dealers as did the previous tenants. we live in a nice, but old townhouse with a unit connected to the right of us. the walls are super thin and i had to learn this the hard way i'm in the master bedroom and the room directly next to mine is the neighbor's master bedroom as well. this man is home 24/7 and has some days where he's super cranky. he'll literally knock on the wall when he hears a noise, which would be often since he can pretty much hear anything. i keep my fan on at all times to muffle the noise and it kinda helps. other than that i've heard him complain about how early i wake up and how annoyed he was at hearing my friend/roommate and i talking in my room. for context, i wake up at 6am every morning to head to the gym before work and literally no one can hear me except him, like none of my roommates even knew i was up at that time before i told them and when my friend used to come in my room a lot its because she was majorly depressed and su*cidal and thinking of moving back home and dropping out of grad school, never mind the fact we're super quiet people who don't even talk loud. its not the worst thing but the one guy in particular is so obnoxious
JustHoran Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Mostly, no. The old lady next door to me is pretty quiet and keeps to herself and same with the other person next to me. However, there is two crackheads who live together on my floor down the hall who FIGHT in the hallway sometimes and are SO loud and she's banging on doors, threatening to call the cops, tell them where his crack is, etc. Now THAT is bad and pisses me off but mostly my neighbors are good.
LoveInStereo Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Context, I’m a musician. My next door neighbour would knock on the wall the sec I’d start playing piano. 1 day, a guy comes over like “hey, sorry but my sister lives with me & works from home & she’s saying she can’t get anything done. I personally love it, I’m an artist too, I get it but can you try to keep it down to make my life easier?”. I thought he was so nice but she must be a c word to make her bro do her dirty work, esp bc she’d play music at audible vols all hours of day & night; total hypocrisy. Weeks pass, 1 day, I hear a blowout argument. He later tells us his “beast” sister moved out. The vibe shift has been so nice good riddance!
