Why is Midnights so perfect?

Featured Replies

It's summer, I'm in my garden as the sun sets or driving my car as it gets dark or walking through the city listening to it and it's just such a brilliant album :jonny5:

You know the album is really bad when the supporters feel the need to use words like "cohesive" and "cute theme".  And yea, in this case the album is far from being perfect.

  • It’s Taylor’s worst album

Cohesion and just effortless fun bops tbh. However, lyricism >>> the production, honey.

it's always been mid for me unfortunately! very generic and not memorable for the most part. YOYOK tho>>

It most certainly is not; she called it MIDnights for a reason :skull:

With an 85 Metacritic score, you're not alone in loving this album, but I truly do not understand the hype, and I've listened to the standard edition, 3am edition, and Til Dawn edition.

I'd say if Taylor just kept Snow on the Beach, Anti-Hero, Sweet Nothing, Labyrinth, and the 3am tracks, I'd like album a lot more. I truly don't think the rest of the deep cuts enhance the material and may detract from it, quite honestly.

Count me in the folklore/evermore/Red (Taylor's Version) fan club.

It’s not perfect, but it’s very good.  She has developed an incredibly razor sharp and developed pen for songwriting and it is such a joy to hear her just free write these days.

No matter what the OTHs say the album is a cohesive and sticks to a cute theme. Easy to digest and enjoyable

It's her most atmospheric album to date and it keeps that same murky vibe all the way through. That's why I love it, it exists in a moody world of its own. I also understand why many people don't really like it. Either you love all of it or you don't really care for any of it. It's so consistent.

Amazing record despite what the ATRLs into Avant-garde sh*t say :gaycat5:

"Can we stop off and get some Melodrama?"

"No, we have some Melodrama at home in the freezer".

well it was her best performing album on streaming platforms for a reason:cm:

The albums is not bad

But when it first came out it felt like a massive regression after Folkevermore

It’s still better than Lover and her first one

In the middle of her discography

as a stan of hers, it’s the first album since her debut that i just can’t fully connect with for some reason. it’s a solid pop album, but it just seems like everything she does on Midnights she’s done better on other albums. it pretty much has the same pop production techniques as Lover with the lyrical detail of folklore/evermore, but just not as catchy or musically enticing. knowing me I’ll probably give another full listen like 6 months from now and all of a sudden fall in love with it, but just doesn’t do it for me outside of a handful of songs as of now.
