Which of the two albums do you think is bigger overall (sales, hits, touring, acclaim, awards)

 

Keep in mind that the Renaissance era is not over yet (still touring, visuals are not  released).

Renaissance in the long run. 
 

Cuff it alone is bigger and more recognizable to the GP than anything from Lemonade, and Lemonades recurrent streams are abysmal. 
 

Lemonade had great sales, but that’s totally irrelevant today where among the GP, the album is largely forgotten 

Renaissance will be since it was on streaming services its chart run

Lemonade was bigger at launch but very frontloaded. Renaissance is not a huge success either but at least it fot a hit thanks to Tiktok

Rennie in the long run methinks but Lemonade was definitely a bigger moment 

'Lemonade' has more units as of now (naturally due to being 6 years older), but thanks to much stronger streaming performance, 'RENAISSANCE' will end up as the bigger album.

 

It winning more Grammys and having the bigger tour are the cherries on top.

“Very front loaded”….it spend 18 weeks in the top 10 of the BB200 and and was the #1 worldwide IFPI album despite being released in April. 
 

if you meant “very frontloaded” on streaming services, you’d be correct. But it legit sold very well the entirety of 2016

Rena will end up bigger since it's having better longevity.

Lemonade was a moment when first released especially with the Super Bowl and tour.  Renaissance is doing well but I don’t think it has latched onto the cultural consciousness to the same extent.

Sales were already starting to be much less relevant in 2016 and IFPI was not counting streaming IIRC. It's chart performance was also boosted by the Tidal fraud.

But Renaissance scored much bigger hits, music was an event itself and the tour will also be bigger, everything without visuals(yet).

It sold 2 million pure in the US alone. Pure, as in counted by Billboard.

Renaissance was also one of the biggest albums of 2022 and it’s having great longevity in 2023.

Renaissance, bigger global hits, longevity, a tour 2x as big, more Grammys.

 

Lemonade holds its own by being Bey’s most acclaimed work and its great pure sales.

Renaissance ~3.1m units

 

And that's with Lemonade not having Spotify/AM for a while. It seems like too big of a gap to close. Renaissance did score bigger commercial hits, though.

We’ll never truly know. Lemonade being held hostage from major streaming platforms for 3 years kept it away from casual listeners, obviously. Like Formation could have easily had 500M+ streams on Spotify by now, more than RTW, Partition and BMS for example, but nooo. It sits butt ******* ugly with less than 300M streams, leading dense atrl’s to believe it wasn’t a signature classic because it doesn’t have 500,000 daily streams or something stupid. She could have also released better videos to YouTube such as Daddy Lessons, 6 Inch or DHYS but noooo, she said let me upload this blood curdling cry that is Sandcastles. 
 

So with that said, it’s hard to really tell because sales wise, it clears.  Renaissance does seem to have LEGS with more still in store. So it’s safe to say it is indeed bigger and will have better recurrent streams in the long run.

Imagine how big Renaissance would've been if she put the effort she put into the Lemonade era (major award show performances, visuals upon release).

RENAISSANCE has better legs but Lemonade's first few weeks were really huge and it will take ages for ren to catch up.
