Is G.U.Y. Gaga's most wronged single?

Featured Replies

I'm sorry but this song is such a ******* smash, it didn't deserve to bomb like it did. Also the budget in the music video :jonnycat:

It's an AMAZING song! I also really like the mv.

No, it flopped because it's not that good and the chorus is annoying. Gypsy, X Dreams, Manicure, Venus deserved the single treatment.

Amazing song, production is noisy but top notch. The video is classic Gaga and definitely in her top 3. I think it was just too much for the 2013/2014 musical landscape.

No. The GP made the right decision.

That video with a different song could have been a big hit, though.

There was no hope for ANY single for Gaga at that time. Her image was in shambles after the media wrecked her in 2013. She didn't even have the support of her label, she paid for this out of pocket. :rip:

But yeah an ARTPOP highlight, absolute banger, beautiful MV, etc. Just the wrong time.

This is the only genuinely good song on ARTPOP. Like I appreciate that album and there's plenty of enjoyable tracks on it, but this one is truly a hit that got away.

I didn't remember the Minecraft placement :dies:

Imagine if this was the lead single instead of ApLoss :jonny5:

Sadly she was already too overexposed and the GP wasn't here for her gimmicks anymore, there was no shock value to exploit anymore. Also by that time there were so many broken promises by that pathological liar that even her own stans started jumping ship, and well, even the label jumped ship after seeing the numbers, Gaga had to fund that video by herself (and minecraft it seems :eli:), it was bad for her... it was really bad for her

I'll never forget the day it came out, someone said the final chorus dance scene looked like a Levi's commercial. :deadbanana4: Kinda takes me out of it every time I watch.

Yes. She released it very late, like 2 months after Do what you want finished it's entire run. It never stood a chance because of that.

It's one of the better cuts on Artpop, but it was definitely not a strong Gaga single like anything off The Fame Monster or even Born This Way (single) or Bloody Mary. I don't see G.U.Y being released at any point and really connecting with the GP.

She destroyed the music video with the minecraft, housewives and dead legends BS

No.

Marry The Night deserved so much more

Stupid Love also

the production of this song holds up so well to this day :WAP: NEIN, ZEDD!

It’s the most generic song on the album with Applause. I kind of see why they went with it, but Venus and Gypsy are the real smashes that got away

No, there's too much going on and the end result is a bunch of noise. Applause perfectly pulls off the over-the-top shenanigans on top of having an excellent chorus. Now that's the 20 week #1 that was paid dust.

The song is still superb. The video has some great moments but others are too cringeworthy.
