Remember back in the day when Wrecking Ball became the fastest MV to reach 100 million views on Vevo/Youtube within like 6 days? The fact that she’s breaking the same type of record but on Spotify almost 10 YEARS later gives pop prophecy fulfilled

100M in less than 8 days is absolutely massive. Keep in mind that Flowers is now the first song in Spotify history to have three consecutive days with over 15M streams each, which is an incredible feat in and of itself

 

 

 

I don’t think enough people are mentioning how much pop has gone through a Renaissance lately. All of our MPGs and flop girls were flopping for years then out of nowhere started smashing lately. I think pop is going to keep growing during our current recession. Escapism.mp3 is a big thing for many people in difficult times and I think we’re seeing 2007-2010 make a comeback.

I think that it's also the fact that [younger] audiences have fully transitioned over to streaming. I mean the growth even since 2019 has been exponential.

It has been lowkey overshadowed by We Can't Stop among streaming audiences in the past few years, so it's good to see this classic getting some love this time. The performance with Dolly probably helped casual listeners reconnect with it too.

Agree! I mentioned that both the album title and the imagery so far are giving me escapism vibes. No wonder she's smashing, people want good and care-free pop bops.
