I agree, i used to play it a lot when it came out but now it sounds pretty bland, maybe it's her voice it's nothing special

Never like the album execpt for the standouts (Good 4 U, Brutal, Jealousy, Deja Vu), but she's pretty and has potential.

it wasn't that good an album to begin with, maybe 3 or 4 decent songs but thats it

Fast food music for teens, she came out at the right moment exploiting her Disney drama situation but her music has always been mediocre along with her as artist.

Compared to other releases by Disney alums, I would say it's a mid-tier effort. Demi has never been a critical darling and she released better albums than Sour in the late 2000s.

SOUR hasn't aged at all. This thread...

The thread is evidence that most of y’all lack any taste.  Sour has aged like fine wine.  Even after the hype has dried up and people have already listened to it multiple times, people still go back for more.  In a couple years it will start having album tracks with over a billion streams when most of your favs couldn’t do that with singles.

people calling the album “childish” if it wasn’t written by a 16 year old girl  some of y’all faves are deep in their 30s still writing watered down glorified kidz bop jingles that y’all salivate at the mouths for  tf you wanted Olivia to write about? doing your taxes and the benefits of a 401K? it’s a solid age appropriate album that did what it needed to do. just because it doesn’t appeal to 32 year old gay men who need to go pay a mortgage instead of dragging a teenager on ATRL doesn’t mean it’s awful. Not everything needs to be for you

It had a dated sound from the first listen. Doesn't mean there weren't good songs on it or it's a bad album, but sonically it was very "stuck in a moment in time".

ATRL seem to have switched on Olivia it seems.

I'm sure that sour ages better than  planet her. Only KMM is listenable now.

I know this was not the point of your post, but I would 100% listen to this album concept.

I mean if anything they are being objective with numbers which may indicate that the album is in fact not "aging" since people are enjoying it still

The hate for SOUR when it’s a great album and still pulling huge numbers 2 years later 

The album has been mediocre since its release. It’s like 70% boring, whiny ballads, and the singles were just watered down versions of better Lorde/Taylor/Paramore songs.

 

If some flop Disney girl like Sofia Carson had released it nobody would’ve liked it. People (and critics) only thought it was good because of the hype behind her overnight success and the Disney Channel love triangle that every song besides two was about. It wasn’t even supposed to be an album, and you can tell the lyrical themes getting stale like four songs in. By the end it’s just painful.

 

Notice how her stans don't have any defense of the actual music in this thread, just "well you're wrong bc of the streams!!!"
