Britney's third studio album, Britney, was released in U.S. and Canada 21 years ago on November 6, 2001. It debuted in US with 746,000 copies sold in the first week. At the time, Britney broke the record as the first female artist to have her first three studio albums debut atop of the charts, a record she later broke, again, with In the Zone. The album received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. The album spawned six singles:

I'm a Slave 4 U (Sept. 25, 2001)

Overprotected (Dec 10, 2001)

Overprotected (Darkchild Remix) [March 26, 2002]

I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman (January 7, 2002)

I Love Rock 'n' Roll (May 27, 2002)

Boys (Co-Ed Remix) [June 24, 2002]

Anticipating (Released in France) [June 25, 2022]

The album tracks make it one of her best albums, in addition, to Slave, Overprotected, Boys:

One of her best. I wore it out at the time then started to hate it after that sound went out of style but I’ve since gotten back into it.

OMG. What an iconic album. One of my favorites of all time. :heart2:

The cover is :flame:

Her best album until Femme Fatale, honestly :clap3: Unlike her first few albums, the album tracks were fire. Lonely is really THAT song :WAP:

Gave birth to Lonely, Cinderella and Overprotected. A coming of age ALBUM.

:jonny:

Her janet. album. The gp is sleeping on this yet it’s one of her best and her only self titled album. It has iconic songs, videos, performances, her best looks, her best tour (that every stan wish their mpg had). Not to mention it became the post 2000s blueprint to pop girls shedding their goodie two shoes images.

not everyone has that

Like, when I heard Cinderella, What It’s Like To Be Me, Overprotected, Lonely, Slave 4 U, Anticipating… I knew THAT’S why Britney was the pop icon she is today. :jonny:

Not to mention I Run Away one of the best songs of all time :gaycat4:

Loving all this love for it in here. It usually gets ignored. Cinderella has to be one of my most played songs ever.

Game changing albums.

first teen female album to transition successfully from multiplatinum teen to multiplatinum adult popstar.

Yall better stream the album :clap3:

The era's singles are still amazing and have had impact on the recent pop girls

even tho they didn't do as well on the charts back when

The album sold well and she was everywhere :clap3: even her peers of the time had to Step Up

the era tho :jonny:

Superbowl performance

Slave 4 U at the VMAs

performance with Michael Jackson

topping Forbes

Successful movie

the legendary Pepsi commercials

her Best selling tour (her being the youngest highest grossing female (and probably for males too) performer at the time) at the time

the album remains Hella underrated

this is one of her works that deserve high playlisting because the radio thing, really ****** up its fame (altho they still sustain pretty good streams for an album from that time)

It was “uncool” and “gay” to like her at this time, and I didn’t need to add more fuel to the forest fire of bullying that was my middle school years, so I never paid attention to this album outside of the singles until later in life.

Cinderella was really THAT girl and she deserved her flowers for that song alone

The way it really was an UNTOUCHABLE era for her. Her domination was so unreal in pop culture at the time. Like whew ELSE was doing it??:jonny5:
