Adele

Atrl just hates them because of their success, nothing to do with their personality or music

Alot of people hate what's popular and what alot of others seem to like. The constant threads on Reddit coming at women like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, as well as them routinely being associated with the word "overrated" sort of prove it.

There's no logical reason to dislike, so it becomes a topic of them being overhyped or an attack on their fanbases (Preppy White girls, gays etc.) even though we're well aware they have incredibly diverse bases.

And the hate coming from straight men 99% of the time sort of proves this because they stan the most problematic rappers and Rockstars but hold these women to impossibly high standards.

This. Straight men (and some straight women influenced by them) will call literally any female pop star "untalented" or say they "rely on looks to be successful", regardless of how great of a vocalist and/or performer they are. Unless you have a Kelly Clarkson or Adele type of image, you're bound to have someone claiming you can't really sing. If they can't deny your talent, they'll say you're overrated, like you said.

I'd say among some social media circles, it's easy to tell when people don't like an artist for whatever reason, but instead of simply owning that, they want to have to some sort of moral justification to validate their negative feelings towards said artist and/or to influence other people to dislike them as well, so these people try to create something out of nothing to start a witch-hunt against them. That usually happens to artists right after their debut or peak.

Xtina. People really hate her, it's not just some shade. And it's always "in 2002 she said something".

Adele. The most unproblematic pop girl whos beloved by the GP but ATRL hates on her bc she outsells all of their faves

Jealousy jealousy

Not exactly true. She kind of lost part of her humbleness during this last era IMO.

Chlöe. The way she was dragged just for announcing she was releasing at the same time as artists she admires was wild. Dumping on her for no reason and it felt so forced.

Dua Lipa. The girl minds her business, releases her bops and goes home. Not sure what there is to be bothered by. She's the least problematic mainstream pop girl, has not been caught up in (social media) drama like a lot of her peers sans DaBaby drama, and yet she still gets dragged the most out of her peers. It feels forced because Dua doesn't respond to her critics like other pop girls and isn't chronically online like the others.

Normani. I get she she's annoying for teasing music she has no plans on releasing, but the commentary around it every time she posts feels a bit forced and redundant.

On ATRL ? Britney Spears but it mainly comes from that one fanbase.

Camila Cabello too. She's minding her business, releasing cute bops but is the most hated artist on the website for what she said in the past.

I also think the hate against Demi Lovato is ridiculous. I don't even like her nor I enjoy her music and she definitely has her problematic moments but she does not have a bad soul and deals with enough in her personal life.
