I stopped tweeting last year because what is the point

If Twitter is “dying” then what is Facebook? I literally don’t know anyone who is in there anymore or post “regularly”. It’s a ghost town over there .  I still haven’t seen much report about Facebook “dying”.

Seems like a weird narrative to push twitter to sell.

Because these reports are like 10 years old. Facebook had it decline forever ago.

Twitter is now just entering its nose dive.

Honestly its one of the most toxic places, far worse than instagram, so much of its engagement is built of outrage, divisiveness, bullying etc so I'm not at all surprised that people are leaving it and minimising their engagement. Beyond that I think there's a natural canabalisation as IG/Tiktok become sources of news and discourse as well

Twitter is 100% dying as a traditional form of social media. Snapchat too. 

 

The only 2 reasons people may have it is to follow p*** accounts or participate in stan Twitter (which is also dying in my opinion).

I haven’t been active since they changed the TL algorithm just like Instagram. I just lurk for news and updates now.

I used to spend so much time on Twitter but I made the conscious decision to cut back a few years ago because it’s become such a toxic echo chamber, such a horrible place to have a discussion with a lot of self-righteous people who don’t even realize how much of a bubble they’re in and how removed they are from the real world and people with jobs. I still lurk to see what’s going on in regards to specific interests I have but I’m definitely happier the less time I spend on there not worrying about whatever the latest manufactured controversy of the day is.

Literally almost 95% of my friends and mutuals has stopped using Twitter around 2021. I feel like i’m talking to myself now every time I post on Twitter  ?

I mean, at some point it had to decline and I'm not even surprised, it's a shithole rn tbh.

It is a toxic place. All anyone wants to do is argue and someone will pick a fight over just about anything you say. You could say "This coffee is delicious" and someone will chime in saying "What is your problem with people who like tea?" 

I’ve noticed that a lot of the people I actually follow don’t tweet anymore (with the exception of the journalists/reporters I follow from MSNBC, etc) so 95% of my timeline is from other random people - unlike IG this isn’t annoying because Twitter isn’t a platform that’s solely based on pics or video content so it’s not too bad.

 

but yeah I predict it’ll go the way of Tumblr… it’ll have some super active users but the bulk of their users will or already have migrated to TikTok. I also think Snapchat is in the same boat. Twitter needs to be cleaned up but it’s such a cesspool that’ll take years to do if it can even be done.

I long for the day when Twitter ends up as dead as Tumblr.

because ppl left that **** app and only logs in to watch porn  the day they completely ban it will be the day twitter dies, just like tumblr

 

tiktok is where it’s at now. it reminds me of early twitter but way bigger and funnier mixed with peak tumblr

People who use Twitter these days tend to be deranged or completely self-obsessed so probably for the best.

I will be leaving soon but I will miss it for all the video game and pop updates I use it for.
