Is 2016 overrated?

Featured Replies

A lot of my generation(Late Millennial/Early Gen Z) see 2016 as the Golden Year where everything was perfect for us

Is 2016 the best or is it overrated?

It was a terrible year, no doubt, but for some reason, everyone seems to have some kind of fond memory associated with it (me included)

Plus, the music was amazing

Compared to the last 3 years, 2016 wasn't that bad after all.

As a pop stan it was really exciting.

For Hip Hop stans too

For the surrounding years, it was great

As a whole? it's maybe a bit overrated, I can agree

but it's still a Top3/5 if we be including recent years

True, I guess it depends on genre preferences.

2016 is the year that produced ANTi, Starboy, This is Acting, Dua (she began to gain traction), LYWC, Glory Days, Mind of Mine, Post Malone, 4YEO, TLOB, Lady Wood, Colouring Book, Dangerous Woman etc...

It was a gorgeous year for music in all genres and helped usher in another gorgeous year that was 2017 (well 2017 was gorgeous before Justin hopped on that song, and that talentless lady released her one-note, try-hard album. It went downhill from there).

2016 was the beginning of our current accelerated decline politically and socioeconomically. People misremember it fondly because of that, but it's like saying the murder of Franz Ferdinand was lovely because the ensuing World War was terrible.

I mean if u look at it over all u can find albums you truly enjoyed yearly

God no it's the only ******* year that was amazing in 2010s.

I mean rihanna, jojo, Beyoncé, Britney.

And especially best album of all ******* time got released

THE BLACK - asking Alexandria

No hell no 2016 is overrated its most perfect year in music

I mean pop & metalcore was perfect. After that there hasn't really been anything as good as all the releases

I think 2016 was the last great year of an era.

In 2017 there was a shift and everything started declining.

Everything started to go too political and people became more angry and negative.

2016 was also the last year of Millennial pop culture. 2017 was the first year of Gen Z dominating culture and that’s one of the reasons why so many people feel nostalgic about it.
