I want a summer lead single but I'm afraid that'll be too soon to start an era, but she is very hard working so we'll have to see. Idk how fans of other girlies deal with a 2 or 3 years long wait between albums. I need TM4 now

If she were signed to Republic or any UMG label, a no 1 debut for her next lead would be guaranteed. But even with RCA shenanigans, I think a top 5 debut is locked.

The only thing she needs now is a true smash album like SnS, Sour, HMHAS and I hope she can pull that off.

The discourse around the ad and Tate in general is annoying and overblown. Ever since the weekend of Exes/SNL/BBMAs in 2023, the internet collectively lost its mind about her, and it's so bizarre.

That being said, it doesn't help that she's so vague/silent about her politics. It makes it easy to attach these insane narratives to her. At some point, it might be better for her to explicitly denounce MAGA/Trump and be more politically outspoken.

i don't feel like she really has any politics tbh? she's young and career focused enough that i can imagine that she never really thinks about it other than in a vague, small l liberal sort of way (obvs she has lots of gay friends and people working with her, has aligned herself with black creatives, etc). and i think in literally any other period that would never have been a problem but atm it does feel very "pick a side" and so genuinely stupid stuff like this will turn into a kind of mini storm (tho surely this will blow over, it feels like a bit of internet derangement and absolutely part of that very weird attitude that's grown up around her online)

things like the wallen collab are more damaging but i think that really came out of ignorance, or possibly a sense of "post malone can do these things, i'm sure it's fine" rather than any sort of political alignment. it's been encouraging to see her take a sort of "you live and learn" attitude to it but she really should have people around who can tell her some very obvious truths (i do often wish that ryan tedder didn't have so much influence with her because he's really not the kind of person who'd think twice about any of this stuff)

another thing I was thinking about today: I was listening to billboard's biggest pop stars of 2025 tate episode and one of the things that the presenter was saying is that she fits much more into the Britney lineage than the kind of post Taylor artists that we see around now because her lyrics are less diaristic and relatable than her peers.

which set me thinking, that's a take you get to if you look at the singles from uh oh onwards but if you go back to the 1st album, the think later album tracks etc, then the diaristic material - chaotic, go away, grave etc - is where she really used to excel. of the hits, there's only really revolving door that takes that line at all (it's still there on sctw I think but obvs takes more of a backseat now)

and then I thought about whether this tied into @Raphy 's take in another thread that she needs an adult contemporary hit - those kind of songs used to be a real strength and now that she's stepped away from them singleswise then people do notice the gap

(tempted to post my 1500 word essay on so close to what that I wrote in release week but y'all not ready for that)
