  • this is a random rant but I'm proud of (the majority) of us. Some of these girls on here are so fickle they've abandoned their original favs that are still active and bandwagoned anyone else with subs

guys her video makes me sooooooooo emotional omg    we have grown old together as a fanbase. we were just teenagers & most of us are adults in their late 20'/30's now.

We still need a dance banger this era

If Calvin Harris ships Rihanna some of his latest funk crap projects, she should ship it back unless it's another electronic dancer banger

Twitter, YouTube and Instagram love this song but ATRL hates it so it must be bad!!!

I love both. And with Born Again, a 1-2-3 punch on tour. A moment. :jonny6:

After a few more streams, I actually like it now.

I love the emotions, maturity, and the idea of it not being an expected route. I don’t see myself streaming this rapidly tho.

Objectively, the hype for Rih and BP will keep the song afloat til she does SBHTS.

Pretty much. Which is why these overreactions make no sense to me.

She’s preforming at the damn Super Bowl for Christ sake at the end of the day she’s Rihanna ppl will still tune into her album when it drops regardless.

Love the song, the vocal delivery and the emotions she poured into it. This may be an unpopular opinion but the song is actually catchy and has tremendous replay value. It has a payoff at the end that is sure to stuck on the ears after a few listen. It's doing really well off of her name alone, plus the GP seems to love it.

This is yet another slow burner and will have a lot of longevity when all is said and done. Maybe even #1 in multiple markets.

This!!!

ATRL can be so annoying with their “smashes”. Like she’s RIHANNA. She’s already the richest musician in the world with 14 number ones. She doesn’t have anything to prove. Would a number one be nice? Sure. But at this point, all I care about is that she serves quality. And that’s exactly what she did with LMU.

Can’t wait for the number tomorrow. Her power is insane no one would ever come close to her with a song like this . The lead single is breaking every ******* record y’all get ready

Listened to it this morning and was legit cryin (i was also thinking about some deep stuff though so it didn’t help…) in the train. It’s not particularly  ground breaking but it’s good and her voice is incredible ( it got deep deep !):jonny:

Fun fact: in a french news channel they talked about the song and aired a snippet but it wasn’t Lift Me Up…it was Answer…and one of the journalists was like « the sound reminds me of 2010/11 Rihanna »…:dies:

No just no! How can they drown out the beautiful harp like that. Totally takes out the emotion of the song

If she performs this at the Oscars she should add a backing choir at the end :jonny3:

I don't post here often at all, but I had to come back for this! I have not been able to stop replaying this. It really is heavenly.

Also, I absolutely love how polarizing this already is; it just proves again that Rihanna continues to take risks, never plays it safe, and continues to surprise us after almost 2 decades! If any of you feel demoralized from the trolls, just go to youtube and look up reaction videos - people are living for it. And it's way more exciting to see those responses than some of the written ones here.

Who knows if this will be commercially successful, but I'm honestly happy that her voice has matured, she continues to focus on the artistry, and she gave us something powerful. That's ultimately what I wanted from her anyway. The bops will come in the future.
