The instrumental is actually v good. The song grew on me but it needed more ups and downs. I don't mind its existence, I just hope it doesn't hurt the success of her own material

After all these years she still manages to do the unexpected and surprise everyone which a new sound whew. Song is absolutely stunning and this is the best she's ever sounded, her voice has matured a lot (as expected)  

 

And I'll be surprised if this doesn't smash in the long run 

Ugh title on Spotify is too long and annoying. On Instagram, tik tok and YouTube is only song title.. Why?

Exactly. And I'm not even a hardcore Stan but she'll always be number 1 for me. I don't have to love every song she releases. 

At this point I'm happy that she's back and we get to hear her again.

The song is not a smash material. Imo it is a perfect album track. 

It is way too slow for it to be a hit.

What a beautiful song, I love her for that. the passion in her voice is something else.

I got teary because I remembered my grandfather's passing last year from COVID...

We were never close but I wish we had that kind of relationship.

The ballad is super cute and the vocals are immaculate. Lovely and perfect for Christmas.

I'm not gonna quote every single negative comment, but I just wanna point out that we already know this song was for a movie and not a lead single from an upcoming album, which turned out a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.

nobody wants a full ass album or a snoozefest of a soundtrack just give us the smashes u used to do and move on

I’ve already posted my thoughts in the other thread so I guess I’ll keep it cute here.

 

I’m still happy to hear her voice after so long (2 years I guess). She sounds really good overall but there’s also some parts in which she sounds a bit different.

FourFiveSeconds is a fun song though. I agrih that at first it felt weird because it was so unexpected from her but it’s an anthem.

It’s just that some of us were expecting something as good as Stay/Close to You, hell even As Real As You and Me (which is criminally underrated).

I can see a trend of people showing phots/videos of their passed loved ones (dogs, grandpas, etc) and making it a trend with emotional connection to the song.

I guess we should have known not to expect much when the ATRL insiders failed to comment on the song itself except for that it is coming
