As for the general reaction it's similar to Four Five Seconds, people expected something completely different, but this time it was obvious it was related to Chadwick passing. I imagine the goal is the oscars, let's see if it clicks and be a hit.

The second half of the song is absolutely beautiful, it's grown a little on me after a few listens but not exactly what I was wanting from her. It's obviously very catered for the movie (as expected) 

 

WHEN is Born Again coming? 

i think this will at least get nominated for the Oscars, even if it doesn't win. and that'll be a nice moment for her career.

That said, a lot of Oscar-bait movies are released in November and December, around the sifting/nomination periods. So any other movie could be released then and potentially be nominated too.

the awards blogs are all saying the OneRepublic song is most likely going to get disqualified because it includes a sample. so the only competition at this time is really Lady Gaga.

 

the biggest Oscar-bait movie that has yet to be released that potentially has a contender for Best Original Song is the Avatar movie.

imo, it'll come down to how Black Panther 2 does at the box office. if it underperforms Lady Gaga probably has it in the bag if not they both have a chance of winning it. either way I think Rihanna can at least score a nomination.

The song is a real grower and melody was stuck in my head from first listen surprisingly....I think she can score s top 10 and an Oscar nomination. It will really thrive once the movie and video are released

I took more than 1 hour to myself. I listened to it for around 25 times. I talked to 3 of my friends that I always used to send her music, and let me tell you:

 

HER VOICE, THE MELODY, THE INSTRUMENTAL, EVERYTHING IS PERFECT FOR ME. I LOVE BEING A NAVY BECAUSE SHE HAS SUCH A UNIQUE VOICE THAT NOBODY WOULD NEVER......THANK YOU FOR COMING BACK!!!!!!!!!

 

I don't care what ATRL says, my 3 friends were surprised, and they loved it, and that is a good sign that the GP will definitely like it! If you don't think so? welll... wait and SEE, and we can talk more about it in 1 month!
