EDIT: I see it now. I'm not too convinced we'd have a video. New Money didn't have one. We shouldn't hold out too much hope, but I definitely would love one!!! The slayage we'd get with Normani AND Tinashe in the same video! Imagine the possible choreography!

Wasn't it the opposite? Her solo fanbase was ready to start calling themselves Kordeination, but she insisted on "The Nation" because she planned on dropping Kordei from her stage name.

I feel like I remember Normani herself had "Normani Kordei" on her bio right? And yeah the fanbase 100% ate it up. I think it's cause all the other girls in the group went by two names. Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui, (Karla) Kamila Kabello. 

 

Normani needed no last or middle name to stand out

Do you guys think that Normani would ever consider getting new management?

 

I truly believe that even with everything that's not happened, her music slash entertainment career could ascend to new heights with just slightly better direction. I think I a lot of people might be a better fit than Brandon frankly because it's the common sense and passion that's lacking so badly.

 

I think Brandon has always seen her as a business opportunity instead of a developing artist with a particular potential significance to pop culture. I don't know if I'm explaining it that well but does anyone else get what I mean?

I honestly think she chooses to keep him around tbh. Other artists with smaller profiles seem to have more competent management. I also genuinely think (like others in this forum’s fanbase have said several times) that she’s at least partially responsible for a lot of the lack of content. Even if she’s not scoring big bookings she could still keep her name out there musically in other ways but has chosen not to. We’ve seen the negative consequences of that post-Wild Side unfortunately.

I feel like she could self-manage and have similar results as working with Brandon so therefore he seems like a redundancy. They just aren't a good match imo

Driving home today and Wild Side was the #1 song on the countdown for the biggest Urban station in Houston and I screamed.

 

For those that remember how much it was a struggle for me to get them to even play the song ONCE. I was non stop requesting 

 

And now still Top 5 over a year later. She really scored a big hit with WS. You really have to wonder what kind of team would let that go to waste?

Not to compare the two but I used to NEVER think Tinashe would get rid of her longtime manager Mike but she eventually reached a breaking point with it.

 

If Normani is serious about her career and management truly is the issue I’m sure she would leave. But it could also be label/personal issues and Brandon just catching some strays. 

There does seem to be an issue that’s specific to her though when you consider S10’s roster. Anitta and Shenseea stay booked for events both big and small and are always pushing something music related.

The recording session was probably fine, it was the post-production that's a disaster  It sounds like they chopped up her one chorus into 50 different pieces. Every half-second sounds like it's from a different take  It's not exactly a vocally demanding chorus so I don't know why they didn't just use one or two takes to make it sound more fluid.

True but isn't it Brandon's job to help with label issue?  There's just no way to extricate him really.

A manager can kinda only do so much if a label doesn’t believe in an artist or there are other serious issues between artist & label.

I actually really like New To You! Easily my favorite song from Calvin’s era so far. I don’t mind her hook either, a visual would definitely help sell this more but I like the song as is.

 

Ngl after the BET snubs and Motivation’s snubs at the VMAs in 2020 I didn’t think Wild Side would get anything other than Best Choreography but alas! Congratulations to her and the team, I truly hope they capitalize and perform Candy Paint. Go all out, guns blazing SELL IT, the people still care about her career

The song was recorded and finished without Normani. She was added last minute to the chorus because the fans wanted a Normani collab after their snippet leaked.

 

That said, not Camila and Normani releasing their worst features of their careers on 5H 10 year anniversary week
