October 3, 20241 yr comment_26615581 I think everybody probably already said everything that needs to be said about the movie itself but personally after seeing it I actually feel good at least for Gaga so I'm just gonna copy and paste my thoughts from another thread bcuz I'm lazy. You can't pin the flaws of this movie on Gaga or Joaquin. They were both fantastic and her role here only reassures that she is a great actress. That said the movie is indeed boring what they chose to focus on is not what I think anyone wanted to see. It makes perfect sense why Gaga would agree to this. On paper it sounds incredible. Starring alongside Joaquin Phoenix in his Oscar winning role in only her 3rd major film. You also can't expect every movie Gaga stars in will receive praise if she wants to keep making movies expect many more to be panned, as long as critics aren't panning her performance then she did her job. The great thing is she's added another role to her resume where her performance was genuinely phenomenal. Had her character reached its full potential I would even consider it her best role, she's just so so natural here and blends so well into the world and matching Joaquin's energy? That's no easy feat. Gaga and Joaquin come out of this unscathed, Todd on the other hand...
