It is going to peak on the radio just in time for the movie. A dream! Could she actually go top 10 during Top Gun’s release week?

Maybe if someone playlists the song better

This is so wholesome, minus the Ratchie mention

Judas just came on my shuffle. Her most underrated classic. Ahead of its time :gaygacat5:

The Bangerz-ification of JoJo is really cool tbh. Lisbon icon for the kids and a liddo, win-win  :bird:

She has a label, yeah, but to say her manager or management have no involvement in this is also wrong :rip:

Bobby's job as a manager is to facilitate and mediate connections between Gaga and other companies. He is involved in promotional plans, but he is not responsible for them. The label has its own department that designs and implements promotional opportunities.

This. Is. Not. A. Lead. Single. It is not going to get lead single treatment or attention. I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand. :jonny: They've already done more for this song than Beyonce's team did for Be Alive, Taylor's team did for Beautiful Ghosts, etc. You guys have to stop thinking that desperately pushing a song to a playlist where it doesn't fit/belong is going to automatically equate to a hit.

Following the film's release on October 5, 2018, "Shallow" rose to number five on the Hot 100 and ran for a total of 45 weeks on that chart.

Just wait for the damn movie to be released before melting down.

Love the gentle flourishes throughout. It sounds much softer and more ethereal (and I say this as someone who LUVS the version we have).

But let's not pretend like this version being released would have the Gaga fans in here being like, "omg this is so good" dd.

Artists operate like LLCs from record labels. They are responsible for literally everything such as promo, partnerships, relationships with streaming companies, etc. The only thing the label pays for is studio time, which the artist needs to recoup for their own financial gain bc the label is going to make their cut of the money regardless. I heard this directly from the VP of A&R of Interscope records when she came to talk at my school. Obviously an artist of Gaga’s caliber doesn’t need to put in as much effort because their music “sells itself.” Take this information as you will. The only time the label actually gets involved with promo tactics is when they have a 360 deal, which I think Gaga has after re-signing with Interscope in 2016.

I’d imagine something like Dancin in Circles.

That's what i thought too. Her low register and speaking voice sounds so nice, i guess she could do something like her part on Sour Candy or the chorus and bridge on Dancin in Circles, that in spanish and with her accent would be :WAP:.

Even something like Alejandro, i don't get why they didn't force her to record a spanish version of Alejandro back in the day, it was a hit in Latin America and Spain, a spanish version + the guitar bridge (the one used on American Idol performance).

Rolling effect isn't just depended on previous weeks, it keep stacking up.

To put it simply

Monday of 2nd week has to gain more than monday of 1st week

Monday of 3rd week has to gain more than monday of 1st+2nd week combined

Monday of 4th week has to gain more than monday of 1st+2nd+3rd week combined

So on, basically more and more radios needs to start playing it. And some need to add it to their power rotations.

Yep. Everyone has their hand in the Gaga pie (which I guess Gaga doesn't mind).

I'm not privy to the ins and outs of a 360 deal, but I do believe a 360 deal gives you access to more resources, like teams dedicated to promotion and planning.

This is all pretty true but keep in mind that the promo artists would be in charge of is more so getting TV spots, planning digital concerts, developing word-of-mouth plans, etc. Stuff like playlisting and radio plans would all also fall under distribution, which is handled by the label unless you're indie. For instance, pop artists like Dua and Camila aren't splashed all over Spotify simply because they have good teams but because they are a label priority. The entire point of signing with a label like Interscope is to take advantage of their resources, connections, and the "name brand" so they can be an easier sell to still guarded things like radio. Getting onto TTH isn't just Bobby sending a check and making a phone call, especially when it's tied to the promotional plan of a tentpole film. A lot of conversations between Gaga, her team, Interscope, and Paramount all happened around the release strategy for this song. Clearly they decided radio was the way to go, at least in the buildup to the film's release.

360 deals are defacto in the industry now, even though they f*ck over the majority of artists :shakeno:

Her vocals in the film version. :jonny3: The whole vocal arrangement is also better. Send this to radios NOW.
