I like Bloodpop's work. I think Chromatica is one of her best albums. He should not touch ballads, though. The production is so weird and hard to digest. I'm sure someone like Mark would have worked with her to output a better song.

Agreed.

Chromatica is her best album in terms of production.

Concise, sharp production, cohesive and good concept.

For her ballads, she should have gone to the Joanne/ASIB team. That said, I would like her to explore other types of slow tempo songs other than shouty Mariah/Whitney power ballads. I would love to hear some subdued folksy singer songwriter stuff.

The intro is really not that big of a deal. :rip:

The intro is a career highlight.

Yep, that's what I said.

her voice sounds more pleasant than it has in a while. i really like the radio edit version -it sounds like it will work so well in the context of the movie and in a stadium.

don’t think it’ll be a shallow-sized success or even close but that’s fine! not every OST song is gonna smash anyway, let’s try to remember it’s to compliment the movie more than anything :chick1:

i must say though, im really not a bloodpop hater (loved most of his production on chromatica) but i really get the complaints here. the production sounds like it is fighting with her voice and makes for a really uncomfortable listening experience.

do we know if the radio edit is still produced by him or is that the more ballad version someone was talking about? it honestly sounds a lot more listenable

Finally someone spilling fact.

HMH is completely fine, some of y'all are doing way too much. Don't wanna name names, but some other artists have released way worse stuff for soundtracks.

It's definitely time to send you to a gulag. :gaygacat1:

the classic rock guitar as it closes, the whitney houston-esque production, her voice, it's a classic I'm crying it's so good

y'all are doing too much just like when everyone called Shallow "badly mixed" and overproduced when it came out

I agree. That's why I think ARUTW is so beloved between fans and the public. Great lyrics, great melody, but especially the way she sings the song is so ******* pleasant. Her voice is so smooth and just integrates into the production so well. :chick3:

I will say that the snippet is the best part of the song for me, wish it was more like that.

tbh i just listened on speakers rather than airpods and it sounds better. i think it’ll sound great in a stadium

Spoiler

the lyrics are a kind of dull though idk

I’m surprised it’s even controversial with the base tbh, I think it’s such a nice song. It goes off in a car with the speakers that’s for sure.

The silent break between the verse and first chorus is too long. It should be 2 seconds shorter

The lyrics are a bit generic for Gaga, but it’s fun to belt the pre-chorus

YOU DONT NEED TO SHOW ME AGAINNNN

Sadly she just refuses to sing like this. She gave it to us on The Cure verses  and ARUTW and otherwise just decides to go with the theater kid over singing.

It worked for Shallow, but mostly it just sounds flat. This is what made Perfect Illusion annoying to listeners. She screams throughout the song and there is no build up, resulting in a lack of emotion.

She still thinks she needs to constantly prove herself as a "strong" singer,  but girl we get it! You can BELT. Now calm down and use it when it's actually appropriate.

the mixed response from base, just like Shallow :duca:

in the name of the father, son and the holy spirit, amen

Yeah, I remember needing to defend Shallow from half of you, and now you’re the same people saying it’s something she can’t match. :rip: Give me a break

But it IS appropriate. Do you even realize that it's a song for a Top Gun movie that invokes the same emotion as the big 80s power ballads? :rip:

Besides, the shitting over this as if we have even seen the context in which it's used in the film :rip:
