I think its clever she had this avant garde album with hard hitting dance bangers alongside commentary on politics, but then the singles were a mix of like ballads. She hasn't done that literally since that era - and we have these arguments everyday but she could do that again.

 

E.g. Chromatica easily could've had this in October 2020 with the perfume SFA release it could've launched a 'you and i' moment but with the SFA version

It's really frustrating. Gaga is one of the few popstars who deserve to have a fanbase that is loyal and appreciative of her, but instead she has the most hateful and negative fanbase.

The 1-2 combo punch of BTW and Judas (1-2-3 if we include Alejandro, which had a very controversial MV too ) killed any goodwill the GP might had had on BTW (the album) at that time, she was far too controversial and we only saw the aftermath when ChartDrop was released. Even a godly song like TEOG (paired with that disastrous of an MV) couldn't do anything to repair her relationship with the GP cause they just simply had enough

I've also thought TEOG would have been a better lead single but in the end, I'm glad she went with Born This Way. Her having the first #1 hit to feature trans people and using her platform at the absolute zenith of her career to uplift marginalized people >>> the album notching a few more sales. One could also argue Born This Way being #1 for 6 weeks and giving queerness visibility on radio waves helped carve a path for the mainstream normalization of queer culture.

 

Commercially, TEOG would have been a bigger hit but BTW in itself is a monstrous hit and TEOG wouldn't have become a recognized cultural classic in the long run like Born This Way, which is basically now synonymous with the LGBTQ+ rights movement.

Yep. During Chromatica era people were acting like Gaga gave up and basically boycotted it to simp for Dua.

A weird take. BTW is what cemented her status as a forever ICON in the pop world. It's what solidified her fanbase and helped ensure a life-long career. She knew what she was doing with that and it was a smart move.

 

Judas being single 2 is what was stupid. They should've moved on with TEOG.

I mean some people literally boycott Bloody Mary because it wasnt Heavy Metal Lover that went viral. I saw many posts here that how they got bored with Bloody Mary updates and all. 

 

The problem is this fanbase and simply that. They’ll be obsessed around unreleased songs and demos but will never stream the officially released one. 

 

Thats why i dont want her to release new music because they dont deserve it anyway and they will only use the song on release day and then the next day they’ll drop it. By the sunday it will drop -%80 in streams...

In marketing, you can look at how the audience responses - you raudiences have certain types of behavior. Some poeple have more followers, but their base is not as dedicated. Gaga's A&R team are probably fully aware her base are usueless beyond the first two days - they dont even buy into her, the barbs would've made SL a #2 instead of #5 for example. But on GGD they all said they'd downloaded the leak from soundcloud and was listening to it there
