not true, sis. only the eldest member is going in the military ATM. V is one of the younger ones, so he'll probably still be able to release a solo album (with Gar) before enlisting.

I personally am not clamoring for it, but the idea of Gaga doing an original jazz song (or even a cover, really) with a member of the world's most popular boy group that will expand the genre to an audience that is not necessarily jazz's target demographic, is exciting to me.

Anyways, looks like Black Panther won't be competing with Gaga at the Oscars, at least not in a serious way. As much as I like Riri, she'll have no pull in this category when up against Gaga and Top Gun.

The intro alone is enough to give you goosebumps i can only imagine going to clubs in 2009 and listening to that intro while on the dancefloor. I'm jealous of people who were teenagers/young adults during that time, i was a kid and had a blast. 

Idk why some of us act as if it's a generic song, the message behind it may not be deep, but the song as a whole (lyrics, melodies, production, the choreo, her persona...) wow You can tell she was hungry for fame, maybe her rent was due, maybe she knew if this didn't stick she was going back to college, even Colby did it right.

How did they came up with that one? I know we already coped about it, but when Gaga and RedOne get on studio, i fear, they just know how to make classics and nothing else.

I didn't say BP wasn't an Oscar contender, but its BOS chances were always reliant on who exactly was going to be singing the song. Someone like Bey or Kendrick would be an almost easy win, but a newbie to the Oscar world is going to make the journey much harder.

 

Rihanna is my second favorite popstar behind Gaga so miss me with this copium ****. Rihanna is amazing, deserves whatever she gets, and I am happy with any successes she receives. I noted my opinion based on Oscar precedent and that's it.

You're going off the perceived success of a song that has not yet been released. I'm going off longstanding Oscar precedent. My take isn't ridiculous, though it could very well be wrong. The BOS category is rarely competitive and often defaults to a perceived generic winner, which is actually Gaga this year.

Neither Gar nor Rihanna are getting that Oscar when Miss Adele comes with the Avatar theme I fear

 

The BP2 song was always going to be a major contender and with Rihanna being attached just raises the stakes even more.

 

Need to hear the song to comment further but with the massive hype around her and this being smartly timed in close proximity with SB (and a likely performance slot? to boost her chances) and her eventual musical comeback, she's pretty much a shoo-in for nomination if she has writing credits (which she most likely will, lbr). If the song is good and becomes a big hit/cultural phenom, it can actually win. Plus, the possibility of another Gaga vs BP showdown will only tip things more in the latter's favor. The only things I can think of atm that she has going against her is her track record when it comes to original songs (although tbf, they were all pretty meh/non-baity attempts) and the sequel being projected to do significantly lower numbers than the original. Also depends on the placement and how well it's used within the film (it's apparently an end-credits song, just like All The Stars)

 

There's also a slight chance that there may be a dark horse contender that storms into the field out of nowhere and starts sweeping 

 

I'm just looking forward to the nomination and the performance honestly, and whatever campaign Paramount has planned for HMH and TG2.
