The only hurdle is that it's probably a pop bop, which AMPAS typically doesn't go for. And the main reason Gaga/HMH is the frontrunner is because it's attached to Top Gun and Original Song is an obvious place to throw the film a bone on paper. Hold My Panned is still basically a no1curr and was never much more than a placeholder/default frontrunner. Just being real. It is common knowledge that Rihanna is not a song writer. Her and her team of writers are not going to get a BOS nomination. Typically, only 1-2 song writers win BOS. Gaga winning with 3 other people was an anomaly. The only people who received song writing credits for Hold My Hand were Gaga and Bloodpop. From the very beginning, they crafted this song to win an Oscar. History is on Gaga’s side this time around. Especially since the only category that the original Top Gun won 30 years ago was BOS.
