I really need her in a interview where the interviewer does a research about her for us to have some tea.

I honestly feel so lucky to have this little space where I can share my love for Hil with others that admire her as much as I do and it's just so awesome that some of us have known each other since th

with the rerecordings happening, i wonder if secretly one of the reasons she went on long hiatuses was because she cant perform any of her own hits in its original form.

she kind of alluded to this with WDAMO in that therapuss interview. and her only performance of her older hit after the first hiatus was Come Clean but remixed!

i think the rerecordings are to allow her to finally perform these old hits in an updated but near original form. she better get those on streaming too because gorl i did not have the money (and record player) to get that mature vinyl. also, her spotify bio got updated again (with a lot of brackets thrown in…)

May I know the tea please? What was her original vision for self titled? I know it was pretty rushed, I do wonder what we would've got if Hollywood Records gave her some more creative breathing room

The album was going to be a lot of darker with a lot more rock but Disney wanted another metamorphosis

The album was actually reissued with some of songs remixed to sound poppier because Disney felt the album was too dark

when the sales dropped disney cancelled any further promotion of the album

it is why fly was the only song to get a video and Disney pushed Hilary to make another album

Has anyone notice how most wanted vinyl went out of stock and was never repressed like her other albums

it's not even on the Disney store

i wonder what happen was it not selling enough to get a repress

I was only asking cuz I was gonna buy another copy but the re sells I saw on eBay are too expensive

Did an explicit version of "Rebel Hearts" ever leak where she officially sings "f**k"? If not, has anyone made an A.I. version? I would love to hear it with just that word added proper, thanks.

EDIT: Also, does anyone have HQ pictures and/or scans of the official Japanese Breathe In. Breathe Out. lyric booklet? I need it for reference, thanks.

I ordered the Japanese BIBO deluxe from eBay recently, I can post pics of the booklet here once it arrives from overseas :bird:

New Spotify bio, properly hyping her up this time:

One of the defining stars of her generation, multiplatinum global icon Hilary Duff returns to pop with her boldest, most self-assured project yet. After rising to fame as the titular star of Disney Channel's "Lizzie McGuire," Duff launched her music career with 2003's 4X platinum Metamorphosis ("So Yesterday," "Come Clean"), followed by her platinum 2004 self-titled LP and 2007's autobiographical dance-pop Dignity. With those three albums selling 15 million copies worldwide, she also emerged as a producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and New York Times-bestselling author, while continuing standout TV and film work, including her award-nominated turn on Darren Star's "Younger." Now signed to Atlantic Records, Duff begins a thrilling new chapter and shares her first new music since 2015's Breathe In. Breathe Out. (a No. 5 Billboard 200 debut made with collaborators like Tove Lo and Ed Sheeran). Created with her husband Matthew Koma (the Grammy-winning songwriter/producer who's worked with everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Britney Spears), her Atlantic debut single "Mature," from her upcoming album luck... or something (out February 20th), arrives as a sardonic piece of autofiction inspired by youthful romantic misadventures. A daring evolution of her artistry, "Mature" pairs bright pop with sensitivity, self-awareness, and sharp wit, offering a powerful first glimpse of Duff's most revealing and evolved work yet.

Yeah it would be really interesting to see her in a podcast where the hosts really know all the ins and outs of her career.

Las Culturistas would probably be a good one for that.

Oh how obsessed I was with this album. It was on constant repeat in my bedroom. Whether I was doing homework, or was just dancing and singing along. That CD was on heavy rotation.

How shocked I was to later find out that this wasn't even the standard album cover for Metamorphosis. I had grown so accustomed to this one (and still absolutely love it), that it really took a long time for me to get used to the original one.

This is really interesting to think about, especially when Hilary was the "guinea pig" for Hollywood Records and we honestly have no idea about the stipulations in her recording contract with them/Disney. It's completely possible she was unable to perform her hits in their original form back in 2015 as it does explain the remix of Come Clean she performed at KissFM. It could have also been a reason behind the scenes as to why the tour fell apart because she would have had to be performing music in a format that didn't align with her taste at the time. We also have the interview from 2016 where she stated BIBO wasn't an album worth touring for, but she was in the early stages of making one that was. She was truly fed up and unhappy about having her creative control revoked from RCA back then, on top of Andre Recke doing nothing for her.

I don't think she would have any problems performing and/or making a deal to be able to promote those songs because at the end of the day it's also good for Hollywood Records because a boost on her catalogue means well... more money.

I do remember that when Aly & AJ came back with Ten Years before the Promises Tour they were talking about some sort of permission I guess? But now days they perform like literally anything from there.

Miley also performs freely her songs from her catalogue. The one I remember she had to get some sort of permission was The Climb

The best thing about her (mine) versions is that she will receive majority of the revenue they bring in, especially on songs she has co-writing credits on. I'm sure Hollywood Records will receive a small portion of profit, but very little compared to the original master recordings that they're in ownership of. I'm sure they've made some nice money over the vinyl releases lol.

Love this interview

So cute! I love this and appreciate her honesty about Breathe In. Breathe Out. and "Sparks".

The way this was more interesting and cute than the entire ***** podcast

Do you guys really think Mature is about Leo Dicaprio? Her saying that she can't confirm or deny it is interesting. I'm just trying to figure out when it could've been. Maybe during the Dignity era when she was going on dates with a lot of different guys in between Joel and Mike. Or maybe 2014/15 after the divorce.

Tbh I always liked this cover better than the US one.

Same, I also prefer it.

But again, that could be my bias due to growing up with this cover.

I always felt like the Japanese edition was the best of both editions.

Pretty sure it's about Joel Madden if I were a betting man.

I am pretty sure Hilary wouldn't write such a song about Joel Madden, as she's on good terms with him.

Also Hilary stated the song is about a very brief romance, so it can't be about Joel or Mike.

Whether the song is about Leonardo DiCaprio or not... no one knows for sure. But there are a lot of clues in the song pointing towards it being him:

"Very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch": This line directly mentions his name and his zodiac sign. He was born on November 11, making him a Scorpio.

"Bet she's so impressed by your Basquiat": Refers to the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, who DiCaprio is apparently a big fan of, and has collected lots of artwork from.

"Hid my car at Carbon Beach so I wasn't seen at yours": He owned a home near Carbon Beach in Malibu, from 1998 to 2021.

"She looks like all of your girls but blonder" and the theme of dating younger women: Basically a pattern famously associated with Leonardo DiCaprio.

And then there was also this clue in her song 'Danger' from Dignity (a song that is supposedly about him):

"Were you born in '74? Are you the kind of guy that I should ignore?": Leonardo was born on 11 november 1974.

Love this interview

She is so precious in this. :heart2: I was genuinely surprised to see her get all of these correct, especially the much older songs, but I suppose re-recording them as well as singing them in live band rehearsals have put them all back inside her brain. Minus Sparks, maybe this interview serves as an Easter egg for the remaining songs we'll be getting re-records of?

I know this is old but i will never EVER understand why songs like Anywhere But Here, The Getaway and Someone's Watching Over Me weren't singles. Those songs could have been the biggest hits of her career

So mature is never gonna chart isn't it

It will definitely not chart right now as streams have dropped heavily and there's no active promo for the single. It has a shot after January IF they push this to radio and streaming or if it goes mega-viral.

It also has a chance in February when the album is released and the whole album gets streamed a lot. Hopefully there's some major promo that month to ensure high visibility.
