  • It was the best concert of my life, bar none. Idc!    It was extraordinary, it was ineffable.  I knew I loved it based on the videos but I... Hey I don't know.    Best moment

I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

The underlined part is honestly cracking me up because of how true it is. Minimalist staging aside, she even opted against on screen visuals despite how much she'd spent 2014-2017 incorporating it into all her performances. Goes to show you that once you've got a brilliant mind and undeniable talent, you can't help but have the end result be far greater than the sum of its parts

Not a critique on anyone else's performance though because I also enjoy seeing how far forward technology and spectacle continues to push live entertainment

Sometimes Azealia takes the right drugs and she decides to SPILL the hot tea like that

Another day of Beyoncé STILL being the greatest performer of all time :clap3:

I seriously wonder if people are blind and deaf to deny Bey? Like that back bend she casually does during the dance break would literally put Gaga and Swift right into the emergency room

Some ppl admire it, others hate and deny it, but at the end of the day EVERYBODY knows exactly who Beyoncé is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I STILL believe the rumor about her trying to sell the visuals at a high rate and no streaming services locking in.

Definitely. Something went wrong with the visual rollout. There is no way that she was planning on sitting on videos for literal years.

I remember thinking Coachella was going to be projection mapping and 10,000 spoken word interludes, where momentum was killed by going from CIL to I Care like Made in America was lmao

There's so much Beyonce hate online at the moment, it's vile! I just know she's going to get on that stage mad as hell and we are going to get a SHOW!

In the most literal sense, she studied the prompt, understood the assignment and delivered precisely what the moment called for.  Those MIA and Global Citizen sets were necessary for her to explore and enhance her performance vernacular, but she's never allowed herself to be defined by just one way of thinking or acting.

Everything she creates is a gumbo of sorts, and that's the reason she can deliver spectacles like Homecoming, RWT and BeyBowl which are all vastly different but still mantain her signature through lines of technical precision and sonic experimentation

she'll find a way to charge you for shipping anyway :clack:

I saw that thread and read a couple pages. I wasn't surprised to see people downplaying Bey but the way they were gassing Gaga up I knew I had no choice but to watch her performance. So I spent the last hour doing just that (which is like half the runtime of the show), but what I saw was enough to make a judgement (and if something radially changed in the second half please let me know)

first off, her entrance was cool af. Immediately I thought to myself, "I can understand why people thought this performance was on par with Beyoncé's". Very grand, high production, pop star x100. However, as the show progressed I feel like it got worse. Now she wasn't doing bad, but the cool factor, the dancing, the "acting", the costumes, and honestly the camera work. It was a little Hokey Pokey at times. There were just moments that Beyoncé (or her back up dancers) would never be caught dead doing (corny choreo/making frequent mistakes/looking confused/unsure). Regardless of what Gaga was doing on stage, the music was good (I haven't listened to Mayhem, but I can tell it's full of bops). I don't think it's appropriate to compare it to Beyoncé, they brought two entirely different vibes, energy, and artistry to Coachella. Beyoncé was an athlete, a vocal acrobat, a sex vixen, and a DANCER. It's an insult to even imply they were equal. And no one will ever top what she did that night (herself included) because no one is willing to put in the work to rehearse for that long, to push their body and vocals to the extreme. That kind of precision has never been Gaga's forte.  It's like people thinking Katy Perry's halftime show is better than Beyoncé's because it was colorful and looked like a Nickelodeon Award Show performance.

The article that gave all this tea made me so much more excited. Calling the visuals 'weird' :jonnycat: we are really getting avant-gardeyoncé in a way we can't possibly imagine and I need them now

already shared my thoughts in HQ. certain l*ddos were doing the most in #that thread.

Bey defrosting and getting mentioned every Super Bowl and Coachella, she's kind of boat mates with Moo if you think real hard about it.

Yeah like I'm sorry you can talk whatever about costumes, color schemes and theming, whatever, but to watch that Diva performance and then pretend lady gaga was even halfway there in terms of actual showcase of raw skill and coordination at any point during her show is just blasphemous. This is what irks me the most. That Beyonce needs to put in double the work, dedication and be twice as good just to still be compared to and brought at the level of people who are very clearly not up there with her.
