The album in general is slightly over produced. It could have been paired back and think stronger for it

Cowboy Carter being overproduced is EXACTLY the reason why I loved it so much and exactly the reason why I think it sounds so amazing. Most Country albums are so f*cking and sonically uninteresting and boring af. I think that's also the reason why Beyoncé made it so instrumentally strong.

I generally dislike country music and most modern country is trash. So I'm happy she made it sonically interesting and didn't stick to the country formula. Cowboy Carter is better off because of the production choices and risks taken. She made country music palatable imo.

yeah, I don't think it's overproduced.

Beyoncé at this stage of her career only puts out overproduced music. it's all so luxurious, layered, and well-produced. she has no peers in the game.

(except the ending of "YA YA," it's so crazy how botched that transition is. ruins the song for me because I can't put it on playlists.)

The Jolene outro is one of the highlights of the album and makes the cover worth it.

Overproduced as opposed to basic, unlayered, vocally and sonically uninteresting.

I wish everyone music was overproduced chile.

Thank you. Cuz damn I thought I was in another base reading the previous posts.

not yall recording better album than Bey's… drop the Apple Music links lemme have a listen real quick sisters ?

Y'all must not be listening to the same Jolene I've been listening to.

I love how funky she made this version. There's something mad groovy about the beat that just makes you want to dance, and Stevie Wonder's harmonica is the perfect touch to its sultry soundscape. It feels like watching an old western as I'm listening and ofc I don't even have to mention the universally praised outro. I won't lie though, it was definitely a bit of a jumpscare on March 29 during that first listen since it's such a well known song, but she absolutely did it justice.

A 1 to 1 cover simply would not have worked as well as it did for BLACKBIIRD. Not to mention how its changed tone brilliant segues into DAUGHTER

I'm intrigued to see if this tour will be more choreo heavy, after the scaled back choreo of the Renaissance tour.

Iirc she spoke about this in the tour film documentary. It was not just the injury, her body and stamina are not at the same capacity as they once were after decades of intense performing and it sounded like she is taking a different approach to it moving forward. So I expect this tour to be more or less in line with less 'hard-hitting' choreo but more simple routines and more focus on the actual singing. And I think that is the best path for her.

They just need to make sure the dance routines are well choreographed and effective for the songs she's doing. There was quite the disparity during the Renaissance tour. The 'renaissance' segment with ITG, Cozy and AS was perfectly done. It wasn't as intense as her older routines but still made a great impact upon watching it. Same goes for performances like Energy, Break My Soul, Move. On the other hand there were moments like Cuff It, Church Girl, Virgo's Groove and AHAP that felt undercooked in comparison and left me wanting more.

Agreed. Those songs all beg for engagement and warrant placing her smack in the front of the stage in the circle or runway vs the very back. At least on Heated, she started in the back and then made her way forward during the final chant of the song

Yeah, hopefully they find the balance on this tour, we don't need choreo for every song like Formation Tour, but I do think the Renaissance tour suffered with poor choreography in general. Dancing is in Bey's DNA, so I do hope she blesses us with some dance breaks.

She showed u during the Beyoncé Bowl what to expect

I was banned for two days because of what I said in the "Beyonce tour not selling out" thread :rip:

Anyway, I feel like choreography-wise, it'll be more than RWT, but still less than FWT. The SHB dance break at the Beyonce Bowl was more intense than any RWT choreo. Her knee is also obviously in much better shape. She'll have several "sasha fierce" moments imo.

i agree bc there needs to be a balance.

renaissance was mostly uptempo. making it easier to cut back on heavy choreo. however, CC is mostly midtempo and slower music. if she dont wanna cut songs there will be more choreo and props featured on this tour.

Heavy on the props being used. I'm have no doubt in my mind she's going to really bring the stage to life. This might be her most prop-usage tour.

I could honestly see an entire campfire segment with dirt, a fire, cabin houses, etc lol

The Jolene talk reminds me of this  :dies:

THIS!

Plus, at the risk of sounding preachy/repetitive, I cannot at some of the gworls wanting or expecting Bey to do a verbatim cover of Jolene lyrically.

Maybe it's because I struggle to ever take off my brand/marketing hat, but I knew she was coming to flip the lyrics for the simple fact that her brand is anchored in female empowerment and has been for over 2 decades. There is no way in hell "Beyonce" is going to sing about "begging" Jolene to not take her man lol.

She reworked the lyrics to fit her brand (and the cultural times in general), saluted the original by keeping it sonically aligned, and gave us that heavenly outro.

Can't wait to see/hear how she elevates it even more at the CC tour.

Lack of singles push and dynamic pricing was not going to help the era. Hope this improves.

I can only speak for myself, but I perceive current Beyonce as a mad, genius scientist in the Studio who can make music unlike anybody.

Take songs like Im That Girl, American Requiem, Virgos Groove, 2 Hands 2 Heaven, Daughter, Energy, Sweet/Honey/Buckin or Pure/Honey for instance and tell me who BUT Beyonce could come up with these songs?

Jolene, tho Beyonce-fied, pales in comparison. It lacks the magic of Beyonce the scientist and creatrice, the artist that operates against all formulas and still achieves stellar, unique listening experienced that feel full, complete and exciting. Sure, the ending of Jolene is by far the best part of the song and shows Beys brilliance, but that alone is not enough.

I'm so glad someone brought this up.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I call BS and on what her and Fatima were saying about choreo.

She factually hurt her leg and had surgery in the planning stages of the Rennie tour. So, they had to pivot. Anyone else clock in the movie, there is a point where she is seen to be dancing down to the dancer choreo for AHAP in rehearsal, only to essentially stand still come the actual performance? IMO, more was planned for te RWT but the injury changed everything. Hell, total conjecture, but IMO it's why we got that random (af) ballad opening.

Even at the point she was "better", the show had to largely stay the same.

a) to not chance/aggravate her foot and b) there are so many small print things she'd never speak about that are factually a thing when it comes to touring like "insurance" and not flagging herself as any kind of liability for future tours.

Trust me, as a dedicated MJ / Janet fan, I'm all too versed on what it means when an act is considered uninsurable or a potential liability and the daisy chain of issues that can cause down the line when it comes to securing big deals for touring etc.

I also don't doubt that Bey has the ability to still go all-out, but IMO it also boils down to her choosing to age gracefully by punching in and out of "all-out" moments than ever risk looking like the "Aunty" trying to keep up (even if she technically can keep up). I been saying that Bey, believe it or not, has been steadily scaling back on the all-out choreo since the FWT.

I say all of this to say, I think her recent Halftime ought to be the new yardstick of expectation. That alone was way more movement (overall) than the RWT. I'll gladly take the semi-uncohoregraphed energy-driven showings of Ya Ya with the chilled theatrics of a Jolene and Levii's if she makes a point to punch in semi-often with the "all-out" moments like My House and Buckin.

It's all about...balance.

This is absolute propaganda, and more evidence of her being astroturfed.  You can easily look at the dates and see that isn't true.
