Staying on the choreo talk (for those inclined), I think we have enough distance from the RWT for me to admit that I'm not sure I ever fully got on board with Fatima Robinson for Bey.

It's kinda weird for me to say, because I literally stan Fatima and think she brought a certain scale, heatrics, and admitted freshness to the tried-and-true Beyonce formula with the RWT.

But her saying what she said on the doc, together with the undeniable rough-around-the-edges feel of the early RWT shows, let me know that not every "dream" match actually plays out like a dream.

Even with an injury, there were more iconic ways to make the magic happen around Bey. Parris Goebel does this exceptionally as her trademark.

Also, to know what the expectation of Bey is from the paying audience is to know that there often "needs" to be that 15 sec (perfect for social media) "Errbody Mad" or Buckin moment. Bey sitting down for Virgo or walking around for her two biggest GP-pleasing uptempos (BMS and Cuff it) are still unforgivable to me.

I must stress that I literally love the RWT and think it's her best tour. But moreso because of the sum of ALL of its elements (the album, the moment in time, the overall feeling it captured). But from a technical standpoint, a lot of notes need to be applied/corrected for CC.

She didn't work with Fatima for Halftime, which has me thinking she may not be in the mix for the CC tour. It seemed Chris Grant (who has been a consistent throughline over each Bey era) specifically led Halftime. I'd love it if he led CC with external contributions for key choreo (as was the case for Halftime, with Parris Goebel doing Buckin section for example). Just someone who "gets" both the expectation of Bey and is in the mix enough to apply it within the limitations of today (e.g. age, touring longevity etc).

Absolutely, I agree with everything you said especially this part. They could have done so much more to elevate the moment, and having Beyoncé off center during Heated (omg) was a clear misstep. That's a song made for a commanding presence, and it was the fans who had to step in and give it the energy it deserved and the critique was loud enough that they made the necessary changes. On top of that, some of the album's biggest highlights were completely left for dead in the live show something that rarely happens with Beyoncé. It felt like a missed opportunity in ways we're just not used to seeing from her.. I hope with her knee healed, that the CC tour is taken to the next level.

I think FWT and Beychella has warped ppl perception of how much choregraphy Beyonce was doing

i think a return to TBE, IAWT, and MCSWT standards is fine...a few major dance numbers without sacrificing VOCAL ABILITY is why Beyonce got the moniker of being the greatest performer. there's plenty of great dancers to go around...Beyonce's allure comes from her VOCAL ABILITY in combination with it.

unfortunately, FWT & Beychella did not highlight it as well and tipped the scales too far with all the dancing. part of the reason why i'm glad FWT dvd was not released. I expect CC tour to emphasize VOCAL ABILITY over dancing.

not the low tix sales posts :lmao: where uk hive at?

Paying it no mind, especially as I'm near-certain that the tour starting in the entertainment capital (LA) will see the buzz/virality shift any slow-go with the Europe/UK ticket sales.

Although I do think the slow-and-steady sell-outs will probably see more of these posts pop up in the press a lil heading into the tour.

IIRC, this kinda sorta happened with OTRII and it all ended up being fine in the end.

It's par for the course - and I don't wanna go on a moan rant either - but Bey has to shoulder a little of the blame. Her name carries a lot of power and the tour will be another blockbuster seller for her. BUT you also can't cheat the tried and true realities of marketing 101. Had a tour been announced at the peak of the CC buzz, there probably wouldn't be a single ticket left anywhere.

Similarly, I think I retroactively think it was kinda dense for them not to announce at the tour right after Halftime. Especially as the eventual announcement still came with a long-than-expected lead-in window to the on-sale date for the tickets (10 or so days). So, the whole argument (that I bought into) about people being broke at Xmas and being more strategic with a later (Jan 14) reveal doesn't hold as much water now.

I don't think there's any need to panic per se, but I do think there are avenues if ever she wanted to (drumroll) promote. From remixes (with big names) to actually posting (properly) about the tour on her socials, a televised commercial (not dropping one in the Grammys was silly). There are...angles.

This is absolute propaganda, and more evidence of her being astroturfed.  You can easily look at the dates and see that isn't true.

girl i'm all behind the astroturfing theory but this is just a desperate barb running this flop page and linking a khia online magazine nobody has ever hear of :deadbanana4:

fixed. :gayoncecat3:

another thing to put into proper context...the injury actually occurred during the I Am Tour rehearsals...not RWT. Her knee was in RECOVERY during RWT...not injury. She'd actually been dancing on a bum knee for 13 years before the wear & tear got too dangerous to go forward with.

I don't have a problem with what Fatima said nor Beyonce agreeing with it. Beyonce realizing that all she needed was her voice was a breath of fresh air in the film. Prince and Michael Jackson relied on painkillers for decades which contributed to their early deaths. Fatima has observed this type of stuff up close and is protective. There's no 8 count thats worth it. Beyonce is not Ciara, J. Lo, or Janet Jackson...she absolutely does not need to have heavy choregraphy to carry her and THAT'S the magic of Beyonce and always has been.

I actually agree with aspects of this.

I'm deffo a choreo-first-and-foremost person.

But, as an MJ fan, I wish he was still here even it it meant him being more vocal-led with the odd Moonwalk here and there.

Both musically and performance-wise, I'll admit with Bey that I often respect her doing what's best for her in that moment (even when it goes against what I want).

Like, musically, I have never gone up for Lemonade musically (for example), but I absolutely see its vitality in her discography and literally don't think we get to THIS moment in her career, level of celebrity, or cultural resonance without it happening exactly when it did and sounding exactly as it did.

Similarly, I'd rather RWT being exactly what it was if it meant she didn't develop the same kinda toxic pain-management addictions her idols did.

I think for me, it's a case of: now we're over that hump, how can her ish be better? How can she one-up the RWT? IMO, it's by injecting more choreo and general movement back into the equation.

RWT kinda gets no notes from me. I didn't loveee the ITG choreo and she should've done the big three every night but that abt it definitely her best tour. I can't believe yall are complaining about her "standing around" for cuff it and bms???? Did we watch the same show? Those were some of the highlights her prancing around giving vocals was amazing

You can at least admit that CUFF IT was musically great but from performance and choreo perspective it was underwhelming

Im being downvoted like crazy for saying that if you can't afford her damn parfume, dont buy it. One would think I've written we should all open a Mr Petty Fanclub or give donations to P Diddy. :jonny6:

yeah, the only memorable part of CUFF HIT performance was "can I sit on top of you?" otherwise forgettable choreo.

POTS/VIRGO suffered from her staying in the shell going up and down for 5 minutes.

her being stuck on top of the tank for 3 whole songs wasn't ideal either, but I do get that was her "break" after Formation/Diva/RTW/My Power.

Virgo's Groove needed funky/disco choreography with a mic stand and I'll never forgive her for that.
