  • It was the best concert of my life, bar none. Idc!    It was extraordinary, it was ineffable.  I knew I loved it based on the videos but I... Hey I don't know.    Best moment

I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

Lemonade is one of her best albums, that doesn't mean it has to be your fav. People need to learn the difference. When I go back to it, I get reminded how good it is.

This.

I'll play DIL over Lemonade 9 times out of 10 but I still think Lemonade is the better album.

Bless the day! Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter is still breaking records, ceilings, and haters feelings 27 years into her career.

Is it just me or is Lemonade becoming kinda underrated? It's always so low on the Hive's rankings and the recurrent streams aren't that great. I blame the Tidal exclusive.

I feel like people always bashed it since it's release, it still remains her magnum opus to any critic that matters so it's whatever. :michael:

tidal failed bc its whole thing was a bunch of billionaires crying about not getting enough money :rip:

they would've done a lot better and would have a bigger (albeit more niche) audience if they highlighted and pushed the audiophile pleasing side and their great sound quality instead

I agree and disagree lol.

Yes, Tidal's whole "we're not getting enough royalties" angle was extremely ill-judged as a "selling point" to a GP who could only dream of having a fraction of each artist's net worth.

However, I don't think the "superior sound" / audiophile angle was compelling in any way either. At least not to the extent of basing its unique selling point on that (second to the royalty thing)

Call me basic, but I rarely hear the difference when listening to music across the different platforms.

I always felt Tidal missed the mark by not positioning itself as a music streaming service AND some kind of visual platform. Pretty sure it was not long after it launched that Netflix made all this noise about bringing a bunch of Black TV shows to its service. Imagine an Urban-leaning streaming service also being home to a bunch of shows "we" love that weren't available to stream at the time. Martin, Girlfriends, The Parkers, and.....new original programming.

Looking at it through a video games lens (stay with me lol), it's like being a Nintendo. Rather than trying to compete with Playstation and Xbox by doing the exact thing they are doing, it's more a case of carving out one's own original niche lane and snatching market share and managing to co-exist that way.

The thing is: time has proven Tidal right. They do pay more than other streaming services, and having a service owned by artists (even if it's only the top ones) is ultimately a good thing. The problem is that, if it's already hard enough to make people care about the perceived value of music, it's pretty much impossible when you have a bunch of gazillionaire musicians talking about "egoless collaborations" and looking like they're about to renew the Illuminatti constitution. :rip: The exclusives only helped sour people on the concept.

that's why i said a smaller more niche audience. there's a good market for people that do hear the difference and care about it but we're turned of by the whiny rich people narrative (who wasn't lol). it'd obviously still be a flop compared to the big streamers anyway, but it'd be an honest, more respectable flop to me :suburban:

i agree with them pushing visuals more, which they do now and tried with lem but they could've pushed that thing a lot more. and include concert uploads like damn just put up beyoncé concerts to jumpstart the whole thing (instead of greedy annoying exclusives no one asked for) :deadbanana4:

No Tidal discourse allowed in 2024, ok FAGUETTES? Thats some demonic thing of the past that should be left sealed and forgotten. We are successful now, lets keep the thing that almost made us lose our minds in the goddamn past

I mean we got radio adds right away, an official anouncement, we also didnt have to endure 2 months of them trying to push Protector or Just For Fun as singles. I think we can call this a WIN

:suburban:

And Bodyguard has all the ingredients to outpeak THE in Germany for instance. We LOVE songs like these on the radio + itll give CC so much more appeal and so many more legs in Central Europe
