I really needed a 16C from Bey after REN. Sonically, it’s such a palette cleanser to transition us into the new sound. I need to build a new playlist around this.

they aren’t bad, I just think these songs aren’t for me right now. 

 

Im starting to believe all of the visuals are connected and are interwoven. doesn’t that ‘Texas Hold’ Em’ clip look vaguely familiar? it seems as though it’s connected to the clip she’s when she opens the fridge in the original Renaissiance teaser? 

I feel like 16 Carriages should've been dropped by itself because this song deserves all the spotlight.

Amidst my excitement, I do still think this could be one of those scenarios where several things can be true at once. 

 

The reshoots thing definitely was a thing. 

 

Nadia is clearly across the visuals and they do all seem interconnected. That said, I don't think they necessarily are/were always meant to drop at the same time (as some grand plan). 

 

I think Bey had/has a number of contingency options she can pivot to depending on a number of variables. Because, IMO, if Rennie flopped after the first few weeks, I cannot imagine a scenario where it would be left to sit and rot with no visuals. Its super organic success run (BMS and Cuff It especially) is what allowed for them to second-guess the videos and play the delay game. Like, why rush out something you're not happy with when you don't (in theory) actually need to?

 

IMO, a lot of what we're seeing supports my possibly delulu stance that she maybe was set to drop the visuals in parts on a Netflix.  Act I film with Rennie and dropping the Act II visuals when its connected album dropped. 

 

Anyone's guess about what the new plan is.

Bey would never get the country votes with Kacey on the run as well. I am already at peace with the fact that she won't get anything this time. She'll be there, that's for sure ;)

Have always felt that Bey will finally get AOTY with her most random release. Something like this or some other concept release way down the line. A huge slap in the face in one regard, but very much in alignment with the very true saying: "life is what happens when you're making plans".

 

There's every reason she should have one before, but when it happens it'll likely be in the most unexpected way.

16 Carriages is better than Break My Soul but it’s still a chop for Yeehawnce

 

Releasing two songs was really smart to prove she can take the country sound of the era into different territories. A lot of people would not check the album had she released any of the two by itself. 

Wow I can't believe this all happened, truly did not expect anything of the sorts.

 

The commercial was super fun! And I love the new wig it's definitely an improvement.

 

Her doing a full country record is such a bold and powerful move. She continues to push herself artistically even after all this time and it's such a monumental thing to behold.

 

Texas Hold 'Em is a little too on the nose musically for me, although I really love the outro. I trust that it'll work as the album opener. 16 Carriages on the other hand is just spectacular. The lyrics, the production, her voice... *chef's kiss*.

 

I'm very much looking towards this album and hear what she's being cooking up, although if I'm being honest I don't really feel much excitement. I doubt she'll do anything else for this, just like with Renaissance. 

She won’t get the country votes even if there’s no other country record released this year, and she will lose the R&B votes. She’s already out of the AOTY conversation and it’s okay.

they + Brittany Howard (90 on MC, 7 total nominations for her last album + previous AOTY nomination with her group) are on my radar for now, but it’s still early so we’ll see. SZA might pop up again too depending on whether her next project is a rerelease/deluxe or a separate entity altogether

So fascinated by what their strategy will be. 

 

I need to see a press release to read between the lines lol. 

 

There's already some similarities to the Rennie rollout:

 

- dropping a very on-the-nose take on the genre (Texas / BMS)

 

- "act ii" reveal versus a title, holding of the cover etc 

 

- pretty sure the distance between the announcement and release date is similar (about 6 weeks)

 

At the same time, the differences seem to make clear that it won't be a like-for-like campaign

 

- dropping two songs instead of one purposefully splits the focus, showcases different sides to the album upfront, and seems to leave room for the public to pick the one for them to push.

 

- really wonder if they are holding their Cuff It equivalent up their sleeve (be that it in its commercial instantness or a major collab to guarantee a hit)

Lana is releasing I think. Hopefully Adele isn't releasing anytime soon.

I’m curious what the “typical” Beyoncé songs on the album will sound like. Renaissance had Cuff It and Church girl, what will this album have
