Um, she is still responsible for those things. She's been touring for 20+ years and should understand venues. She should also know what a nice t-shirt looks like. Y'all need to stop making excuses for poor decisions and mediocrity at this stage in her career

As the owner she is responsible but in reality she is not going to check everything in detail when she's on a yacht in Capri or St Tropez or wherever. The team still clearly act autonomously and have made various stupid blunders, they are all as short sighted as each other which is why she needs a refresh.

She likes success and accolades because it feeds her ego, just like any human being. But she is not going to go out of her way to go get those things. If she really wanted oscars and smash hits she would campaign and do promo like everyone else.

Parkwood has had several refreshes in a decade of business so whether you like how they operate or not, the onus falls on her.

The way PW moves at a snail's pace, I don't think they get very much done without her approval. Maybe the tour photo updates at best. Other than that, I honestly believe every decision goes through her. that's why she created PW in the first place, so she could do things her way. Y'all are not giving her enough credit for her intelligence and industry knowledge. Please remember she was raised by Mathew Knowles and is married to Jay-z. Two people who managed and ran artists/labels. She knows what she's doing. She's had a front row seat to the way the industry works for the past 30 years

An artsy music film is just not gonna attract the attention of people outside the her hardcore stans the same way smaller music videos would so if she’s tryna get millions and millions for them then yeah that’s unrealistic BUT if she really thinks she can just tour the US and a couple EU cities like she’s some small artist and not THEE Beyoncé THEE star THEE female artist that everyone looks up to then that’s also unrealistic

This sound contradictory though. If she's THEE Beyoncé who should and could tour the world with her fame and cultural notoriety, why should she be undersold for her work, too?

I think the missing thing people have in this discussion (which is based on assumptions all around) is that the price isn't just what they're getting on paper but the cultural capital and artistic impact of the film itself as well. Studios make "Oscar bait". They usually are not going to make much money unless they win big, but it's worth the risk for the prestige and branding that you are afforded, more than an animated sequel from a spin-off franchise offers even if it makes the studio more money.

Whomever gets RENAISSANCE visuals on their platform is buying into what essentially amounts to a luxury brand. The cost of which usually far greater than what it affords you.

I found that "Hell" gas station video on Nadia's IG. It's from... September 16, 2019. And the thumbnail of the video is her on a massive billboard, just like the BMS visualizer and RWT intro...

Booking Tottenham when Wembley is right there, the Paris dates, you think that she would decide to do 4 extra last minute London dates with all her years of experience?

She probably couldn't book the ideal venues because they waited too late to finalize tour plans. She announced very late compared to other tours. Whether that was because of a foot injury we're not sure. But we do know she made time for her exclusive Dubai performance.

4 is absolutely the crux of her career because of this. She went IN on that era about an album and genre she was so passionate about. The initial reception and discourse that album changed so much of her approach to things. Some for better. Some for worse.

While they may seem opposite, the common denominators of both sentiments are that she's out of touch, has questionable judgement, and is bad at fanservice.

And these things are true :fan:

What I don't get about this critique is that Beyoncé spent 15 years under Matthew Knowles, and executed his playbook nearly exactly during the 4 era.

Not only did she highly promote it, remain in touch to what the public would want from her (ie. releasing BTINH when RTW flopped), had good judgment (releasing/promoting Love on Top as her pregnancy announcement which made the song into perhaps the era's biggest hit) and provided a lot of fan-service (so many interviews, a documentary, several concert specials, releasing more singles than an era normally would have, given its success, plus videos for songs that weren't even singles)...these things are clearly known to her. If she's not doing these, do you think she simply forgot what to do? Or is it more that she's not making them a priority in her career?

I'm sorry but the math isn't mathing, they were already booking these for summer last year theres some speculation that it got rescheduled to this year, so they had enough time to finalise the plans before and after (if she was injured).

It's either she has her foot off the pedal or whoever is in charge doesn't know what they are doing, in reality the truth is somewhere close to the middle. If she didn't care about where it was she would be booking arenas instead or she wouldn't tour.

The former (out of touch) is informing the latter (dubious decision-making and taste). She wasn't always out of touch, she got that way. It happens. It's not that she has an obligation to do what her fans demand, but that it's weirdo behavior to habitually undermine their perfectly reasonable expectations year in and year out for like a decade :skull:

And for the better, I think.

I'm sure a part of her was a little shocked, after non-stop success since 1997, that she could do all that and still it wouldn't capture the public's attention.

But I think failure motivates her and that's why ST was so amazing and so distinctly HER in her strategy.

You could almost see in real time the way she backtracked on making a traditional pop rollout...Grown Woman single scrapped, Standing on the Sun single scrapped. I think had she released either she may have gotten a nice hit (who knows) but it would not have taken her to the path of legend so quickly, she might even be stuck in the category of 2000s icons with some new hits but that no one is looking to with any sort of major reverence and respect.

Fans can bemoan her choices but we cannot deny that her choices have 100% contributed to her becoming the superlative Beyoncé she is, the legend not in the making, but in the flesh. I can't think of anyone else since the 1990s who has become a legend while still re-peaking in some ways, and certainly peaking artistically.

Any particular reason? Don't September issues typically release in August?

Like that’s just basic streaming/spotify knowledge 14 year olds know about but not at Parkwood it seems

But even flops like Melanie Martinez and co have multiple vinyl choices upon album release day and i doubt they expect to upon with a million first week sales :rip:

Her/Parkwood’s problem is that they see things happen and see the reactions, and instead of reacting as quick as possible they do : nothing.

And it’s always the same thing…

Same for the "she wanted some videos and then decided on a full film last minute” thing like how are you doing this AGAIN when it miserably failed the first time i just don’t get it
