With her attitude towards promo, she should honestly just stick to WallStreet and the stock market

Anyone arguing about Athelusuire or workout gear not being Beyonce's brand when we know she's one of the greatest live performers of all time and literally lives and breathes FITNESS when it's tour time?

Please be for real. Yes Beyonce is elegance and class. She said she allowed herself to gain weight with the kids. But she absolutley cares about fitness and takes care of herself. It's really other faves who blur the line. Remember when Kylie had her streetwear/athlesuire line?

The original IVP promo. The message was very clear. It somehow got lost.

Honestly, things went some after Rodeo. the design and the ideas.. Something.

But ultimately, she did not promote of make the brand sybomumous enough. If she had of kept the same eneergy from 2016-2018 and then 2020, the brand would have been better cemented by this point. Last year and her abscence from BOTH music, social media and IVP was a huge mistake. And it seems like nothing is being learned... Tour is in 2 months. We will see.

Where are these living and breathing fitness behind the scenes tour clips though? THAT would be the best promo. Yet we don’t even have tour footage.

She jumped on a huge trend and bent it to her narrative, (touring, motherhood, fitness) but its past it’s time, let it go. She stopped doing a magazine cover for new drops and honestly all of those editorials were UGLY. I still laugh at Harpers Bazzar and Vogue agreeing to shoot her in Ivy Park with other designs. A testament of her power but ugly.

If she were to sell anything, heels would be a lock. Nails possibly. She wouldn’t do make up or hair given how crazy it’s saturated but she would nail that.

Say My Name, Survivor, potentially Independednt Woman and Bootylicious for DC

Crazy In Love, Single Ladies, Halo, potentially Irreplaceable and Listen for her solo career

The haters are having a field day today with the news but Beyoncé will get the last laugh as usual. Ivy Park will remain as a brand but this time her and Parkwood will make it really how they envisioned it all along and she will promote it for sure now, with big productions and big bold fashion and this time it will be her brand 100%. I could see her eventually only wear Ivy Park on stage at some point or on some videos as promotion, then it will be easy for her to sell those clothes. I knew when she stopped appearing in the commercials that something was up. When she is seen wearing these clothes, the drops always do well.

The haters are for sure having a field day on here. It's so transparent and lacking in nuance, because many in the Base are rejoicing WHILE coloring in their feelings with logical examples of why it didn't work (aka her not promoting etc). The haters are simply spinning it as some sort of "a-ha" example of Bey being "over" while she's ironically on the cusp of embarking on what will be one of the highest-grossing tours of all time. Got to laugh at them.

That said, I sadly think @jane's great post is a little too...optimistic. And I say that as someone who is actually Optimist Hive myself lol.

I have no idea what the "major creative differences" were, but the reality is that Bey didn't promote. And save for some kind of major personal or health issue behind the scenes (which I really hope there's no truth to), I cannot envision a scenario where things were rolling out exactly how Adidas wanted and Bey was simply forcing herself to go along with their plan. A brand will always want more, yet Bey's participation always felt like the bare minimum outside of those glossy videos. Videos that were probably very costly and didn't yield the type of ROI to justify them.

So, I can totally see the reality of the matter being Adidas initially happy just to be in bed with the "Beyonce brand" only to find out even Beyonce doesn't really promote the "Beyonce brand". "Less is more" works for her in the music industry, but for sure is a no-no when it comes to pushing a brand up a hill. Especially one she was relaunching.

Another huge issue that is theoretically no one's fault is that Bey's brand thrives off mystery and eventizing her presence. The girls keep pointing to Rihanna as this shining example. But the reality of the matter is that she's always been this "round-the-way, just-like-one-of-your-homies, clap-back-on-social-media" type of stars. HER brand is built on being accessible and relatable. Bey's is not. So, while it's easy for a Rih to hop on IG and do a tutorial etc, that type of access to Beyonce is just not the move. Any stan who wants/expects that from her still doesn't get what makes her...her.

Still, there were many missteps and there are aspects of Rihanna's ish that Bey COULD have learned from. Where was the Ivy Park fashion show? Looking at Savage Fenty show on Amazon, you can't tell me Bey couldn't have conceived something similar. Ya know, being a PERFORMER and all. Where were the pop-ups at key sporting events? The Women's World Cup sponsorship? Sports team sponsorships? Huge alignment with the Peloton deal? All of that doesn't even require much from her and should have been the next phase of promo after the celeb gifting.

I can't be convinced she's ecstatic about this exit (again, unless there's some huge drama we didn't know about). The optics don't look good, as it's the second time IVP has gone bust (they spun the hell out of the Topshop exit when in reality the line was already sitting on the sales rack). This time the tea about underperformance was spilled for all to see months ago and even this carefully placed announcement by her team got way more traction than the Topshop exit. It's split too; some reports are angling it as a "flop" and others are pushing the "another blow for Adidas after Yeezy".

Either way, this is being seen by a lot more people. None of these will be seen as good for a prospective new partner...and she will need one as she won't be manufacturing nor marketing the ish herself.

Balmain, if true, will be a great PR pivot in the immediate. But I'm intrigued to see what the long-term plan will be (if at all there is one).

Edited by Cbreezy

If the Balmain rumor is true I really hope it's a Beyoncé x Balmain collection and NOT Ivy Park x Balmain.

Let it rest Giselle.

Meh, IVY PARK wasn't for everyone. I never cared to follow it because it just wasn't my thing. I've seen Beyoncé live and love her music but that's never made me want to wear or purchase IVY PARK.

And as others have stayed her being elusive hurt in the long run, but it's the same thing with her music that we've been complaining about.

It is what it is.

You could tell she was planning to market Beyoncé properly once the hype has died down. She started submitting "Blow" (later replaced by "XO") and "Drunk in Love" with a plan to serve double singles continuously, similar to I Am... Sasha Fierce. But the tour proved that she didn't need to lift a finger to sell her music. We will support it and we will buy what she has to offer. Ever since, Lazyoncé was born.

The UK, London especially have always supported her since the start, sometimes even more than the US. I would love for her to do something there at some point. Perhaps a stable residency run, i dont know but there is something magical between Beyoncé and the UK that i would like to see more. I also still believe her Glastonbury show was one of her best live performances ever. She feeds a special energy there because she feels the support.

Ivy Park will never work. Beyoncé & Activewear don’t match.

It’s not. Buyers don’t think too deep the way you are thinking. & Ivy Park sells prove what I saying to be right. Activewear works for Serena Willams or Jordan, LeBron

Beyoncé is glam, sexy, lux etc

Sportswear does not connect with Beyoncé, period

as I stated before a shape-wear/lounge wear would have been perfect for Beyoncé

I think you're right. as is @Dreajae!

Athleisure is not the most automated fit, but at a slight push it can work (and for a period it did).

Beyonce's previous brand plays have leaned in on her beauty, but a big part of the appeal of Beyonce is how ferocious she is on stage and how much work and rehearsal that goes into being stage-ready. By that measure, Ivy Park is a relatively easy sell conceptually.

People liked a lot of the drops, so the clothes generally weren't the issue. IMO, it's the push that was the issue. Specifically the lack thereof and the total lack of innovation with the marketing past the launch.

Granted a product often must fill a market void to truly excel (Fenty Beauty), but oftentimes even basic or repetitive products can catch a wave with the right push and brand story (Savage x Fenty). Bey/Adidas/Both dropped the ball.

What's wild to me is that such huge entities had the ability to effectively buy their way into a strong positioning in the athleisure lane. They had endless resources $$$, access to the best marketing minds, in-house data on what worked for Yeezy, and a lot of established brand equity (on both sides), and still...nothing. Beyond being disappointed, I'm intrigued about how something like this can go wrong. Hopefully, the full story finds its way to some platform. A "Behind Beyonce & Adidas' Bitter Split" tea.

Things that would have worked for Beyoncé:

Shape wear

Lounge Wear

Beauty Line

Hair Line

Lingerie Line

SkinCare Line (even tho that can be tricky for anybody)

Luxury Champaign

Luxury Fragrance (not like Heat tho but better)

Ex. her Tiffany’s partnership was their most successful ever, her Balmain x Beychella hoodies sold out instantly. Her Fragrance did over $500M in under a year.. like how can y’all/she not see the dots connecting..

If she wanted that and I get it, it should be a shape-wear or lounge line.. Sportswear & Beyoncé will never connect.. the lines are too blurred and the two worlds are too far apart

The woman who is most known for her magical live performances, hard work with rehearsals dont match with activewear? you sound stupid sorry. Marketing has not been good for a while and it's all on Bey not wanting to appear common to the public but trust if Bey opened up her world more, everyone would see how the two worlds match.

When Beyoncé goes to drop off her kids at school, pretty sure she has on  Ivy Park. Public dont see that.

When she rehearses for sure she wears it and we have seen that on Homecoming documentary.

When she travels, always in activewear, on and off the plane.

Etc.. People just want to see her a bit strip down and casual with it which she is not ready to offer to us and that's why she has been struggling with this. It's all marketing. The drops she wore the clothes also did better.

Another ex

When think of Rihanna you think of her beauty or sex appeal right? She has brands that revolves around that..,

Same with Kim K you think of beauty, body, her sex appeal she has brands that revolves around that

And those brands are widely successful bc they connect and buyers see those brands in them and plus the items are great and those brands were things that were missing in those markets

and that's where she went wrong. I said since the beginning of Ivy Park, that she should have made performance clothing with Ivy Park and sell them. Homecoming hoodies sold out quickly. Only limited drop but it did well. Somewhere she got distracted and forgot to tie Ivy Park and her very active side of performance art. I mean to this day all the female pop artists switched to leotards after Beyoncé kept wearing them on her tours. Before that we all saw those girls wearing other tour outfits. Her fashion influence is present, only haters still pretend Fashion and Beyoncé dont mix and we all know why a certain fanbase pretend that. I think Ivy Park will continue but they need a rebrand and better marketing.
