High end luxury brands are her thing.

This! And the most relax “relatable” thing she should do be some thing like a SKIMS

When think of Rihanna you think of her beauty or sex appeal right? She has brands that revolves around that..,

Same with Kim K you think of beauty, body, her sex appeal she has brands that revolves around that

And those brands are widely successful bc they connect and buyers see those brands in them and plus the items are great and those brands were things that were missing in those markets

& to add Beyoncé, Rihanna & Kim all have those things working for them just in different ways

If she wanted that and I get it, it should be a shape-wear or lounge line.. Sportswear & Beyoncé will never connect.. the lines are too blurred and the two worlds are too far apart

I hear you.

She's kind of screwed when it comes to some of the obvious extracurricular-ish (like shapewear) because Kim K now has that covered with Skims. Especially the inclusivity angle. We even have Lizzo pushing that too with Yitty. Then her arguable direct competitor in music Rihanna has excelled with Fenty in the beauty sector.

Bey is in a weird spot in general when it comes to her extracurricular ventures.

To be "as" big as she is, as ownership driven as she is, and as multi-layered as her brand is, it makes a lot of sense for her to have a side...something.

Some of the girls are screaming "Yaaas, let her focus on being a superstar artist" in response to IVP seemingly folding. In one regard it's true, but the other side is that she's getting older and will want to scale back. As much as I didn't care for IVP, I liked the idea of it as sis could collect a big bag and have lots of media visibility even when "off". All of which feeds the hype and resources around her music career too.

The whole entertainment sector at large these days is about working smarter not harder and having successful side hustles is one of the most surefire ways of doing that. Because, given how much the industry shape-shifts, it's not even wise to put her all into touring as her sole money maker. She'd be smart to diversify her revenue streams with other businesses. She just got to promote them lol.

Localyoncé Top City Listeners on Spotify

#1 London 1.77 Million

#2 São Paulo - 857k

#3 Sydney - 799k

#4 Los Angeles 708k

#5 Mexico City - 671k

#6 Melbourne - 657k

#7 Paris - 625k

#8 New York City - 524k

#9 Chicago - 520k

#10 Santiago - 474k

Kinda shocked to see she has more listeners in places like Sydney over NYC. Unless there’s an overwhelming number of AM listeners in NYC over Spotify or something.

Ivy Park did not work because it was awfully marketed. I said here last year that I don't understand how it can be successful. Who was it even marketed to? There was no defined segments. It looked both like sport wear but also like fashion clothes. Who was going to wear that?

One would thing she was targeting a luxury segment because of the prices yet the outfits were flashy with bold screaming colors.

If it were the normal person, sell basics, not a set of different new clothes each 3 months.

Like most things lately, Beyoncé doesn't think about or listens to the consumer.

I am also quite convinced that she would be a complete indie flop if she started her career now. She's just too contrarian for the sake of being it.

I actually think both glamor and sport match her because she's a beast on stage (sport) and glamorous. But she did both on IVP and that was just not well oiled.

:psyduck:

the aforementioned tour being inspired by bey also is…. :dies:

She is not up and coming. She is super-rich and has been for a long time. She is Beyoncé. She made more money in 45 minutes than 99% of people make in several lifetimes. She doesn't really need a side-hustle and shouldn't have one, especially if it's not entertainment related. Non-entertainment stuff from entertainment people is tacky, no matter how successful. idgaf about Rihanna, selling makeup is a betrayal :giraffe:

I don't know if I'm being pessimistic Hive but with Ivy Park now being seen as a failure in the fashion world, things like that don't help Bey's reputation as a brand juggernaut. As @Cbreezy said, trust some other brand like Nike will not even give Bey the time of day now if she rolls up seeking a contract. Failures leave a mark. It also makes me think of what happened with Disney. From an objective stance, I am sure Disney was extremely disappointed with the performance of The Gift. The amount they paid to cast Bey + pay her for an album was most definitely not worth the ROI...

All these little things add up in her brand power. Going back to the tea that was spilled months ago in here on the visuals, which is seeming to be true; it was said that Parkwood was struggling to find a home for them, with Netflix not wanting to pay what she's asking for... this is a result of the little marks against her. These streaming companies probably still want to work with her, but when they see her asking price and compare it to what numbers she can actually bring going off her brand (which in recent years is IVP and TG/BIK), it is not worth it.

No serious person actually believes this, only fans in their bubble. Actual tastemakers and critics know Beyoncé is the bar.

And we are supposed to feel sad (?) about because? Our giraffe fave is highkey lazy and we've been complaining for YEARS. She has these things coming with her attitude. I literally dont feel anything but a little happy reading she falls with that approach to her businesses

Preach! This is the lens through which I try to assess her situation.

The Good: She's "BEYONCE" and that will always carry a huge amount of weight and appeal to brands. She's a musical force and more critically acclaimed now than ever before. Should she never try an extracurricular venture again, she will be one of the legendary artists and brands (in her own right).

The Reality: everything you mentioned!

I've always been in awe of how well she mitigates her losses. It was only really WE as stans that clocked BIK didn't hit the same commercially/buzz-wise as Lemonade or Homecoming. And while Disney doesn't publish numbers, they would have seen via their internal data that it didn't hit either. One can only imagine the backend drama happening (something Miss Tina's lil rant about them "not promoting it" made clear was happening).

Similarly, IVP's first run was a bust and the Topshop scandal was perfectly timed for her to get an easy out that she PR'd the hell out of. All this talk of "ownership" and "acquiring" and "becoming the first Black female owner of xyz". In reality, what was the company actually worth at that time? Again, genius Olivia Pope-like spin.

I'll keep saying it, she's mitigated her losses and spun them into "public wins".

The current IVP ish, however, is very frontwards facing and is being covered everywhere. Every brand has a ***** in its armor and Bey's are being laid bare for all to see.

In a perfect world, whatever her contingency is will manifest ASAP. Probably Balmain. I'd love to see IVP stationed at a bigger sports company like Nike, but there a) is no real incentive for them, b) Adidas will very likely have her on a non-compete (especially if they agreed to end ish early), and c) would she even want to be as beholden to an even bigger company that is probably stricter than Adidas?

I remain intrigued about her next move, but for her sake (and overall brand appeal), she needs to learn from this.

and just like that, right on time Beyoncé just gave her answer to the haters:

Fashion takeover is still in the plans: Beyoncé X Balmain is confirmed.  The same person who leaked this news yesterday also said she will attend the MET Gala with Oliver and there will be promotion of a new collab fashion line.

Ooh, French Vogue :clap3:

Tell us the details for the next album

Everyone is doing way too much with Ivy Park. Fashion brands come and go. I’m so confused at the meltdowns.

She is already on to the next campaign which means she probably has been over Ivy Park for a year (hence her barely posting or promoting).

The Spotify data splits NYC . They count Brooklyn, Queens etc as separate cities. So the NYC number is probably closer to London.

Argh QUEEN, we are so ready for what you are about to deliver to your subjects:jonny5:

I don't think the Balmain campaign is meant to be anything of IVP level. It's haute couture which 99% of her fanbase won't be able to afford let alone access.

It's super fun though and I think this confirms a Met Gala attending :bird:

does this balmain thing mean we’re closer to the visuals ? :frown:

and which look is the AHAP look it better not be ugly :rip:
